The word ‘Fuyu’ means winter in Japanese, and our season in which we will celebrate during our afternoon.

Chihiro will guide you through the basic principles of the traditional Japanese art of flower arranging, Sogetsu Ikebana.
Japanese tea and a light snack will be served.

I will hold a calming sound bath meditation to encourage relaxation for the remainder of your afternoon.

WINTER SOLSTICE, THE SHIFT.
In the southern hemisphere we are now, in incremental shifts, slowly moving towards light and longer days.

On my morning walks in Boodjamooling (Hyde Park) I’ve been witness to the change in the trees, birdlife, leaves and sounds. Extraordinary colours and textures that have taken time to form.

I also captured my daughters singing in a round the other day, and their canon and harmonies left me mesmerised.

Honouring our time. Honouring presence.
So it is.

WINDSWEPT
Sunset at City Beach last night before the spectacular dawn of the blue full moon adorned our night sky!

The wind gusts were up to 100km/nr, a storm to clear, move, change and disrupt the calm.

To experience the strength of sound, and to witness the power of the wind and swells were immense, invigorating and humbling.

REFLECTION ON REFLECTIONS
I’m quite fascinated by the elements. I always have been, and it brings me joy to observe. Where light, meets water, meets, meets earth, meets sand, meets sky and the sounds that permeate and the ripple effect.

These particular reflections are from being on Wadandi Country last week. From noticing this amongst the sea and trees and in returning to my home I also see it in my urban environment and a reminder to pause, stop, be still, listen and be. Simple.

Part of my Mothering Sunday was spent walking the quiet paths of Ngurgenboro, a freshwater wetland (Herdsman Lake) in Perth Boorloo.

The sunlight, colours, textures and shadows spoke visually.
Visual sounds of being.
Enlightening.
Inspiring.
Simple.

INTRODUCING A NEW CONSCIOUS COLLABORATION

Our new collaborative offering has been co-created with connection and care, and is an invitation to slow down, ground and nurture yourself through tea and sound for a heightened contemplative and sensorial experience.

Our afternoon meditative Cha Dao Tea Ceremony, will be steeped in the stillness and mindfuless of tea served by tea practitioner Ai-Ling Truong, while receiving a sound journey from vocalist & musician Anita Emor (Emora Suara). Her sonorous sounds and vibrations will facilitate a deep and peaceful state through the resonance and frequencies of chimes, percussion, crystal bowls, voice & gong.

MY LOVE OF SLEEP & REST
I love sleeping.
I love the dream journeys and states I go into every night.
I love napping! Such a treat.
I love the feeling of tiredness after I’ve held a sound offering, being so close to my instruments and feeling the effects of the frequencies, melody and vibrations. It’s as much of a benefit for me as it is for the lovely folk who attend my offerings.
I love the tiredness from exercise, walks in the park, dancing.
I love rest after listening to my body and spirit. I test this from time to time!
