SINGING IN LANGUAGE

Before our time of silence at the end of our Sonorous Sound Bath & Reiki offering I always sing a short chorus from Indonesian songs I grew up with. They are sung in dialect from Minahasa, Sulawesi, the north east island in Indonesia where my lineage and ancestry is from.

A call from and to our ancestors.

By focusing on my tone and intonation of the song, I add the intention of a lullaby or a benediction to bid everyone blessings and love.

This particular song is about sending prayers and blessings for a good life! To go well!

SILENCE
I turned 51 in February this year and had a wonderful celebration with my dear friends and family by the sea at City Beach, Perth Boorloo.

I was delightfully gifted this book from my dear friend, sprite and artist Eric Delorme and I keep going back to the essays, musings and research in relation to my joyful space holding in sound.

I’ve always been fascinated by silence since I heard my sister Alice Emor rehearse her percussion pieces over and over and over again and became aware that the space between the beats was just as important as the beats or sound itself. Quite mind blowing for me.

Here’s to silence and our focus on it as we go then our days.

An invitation to our soulful monthly offering which has been created as a safe space in sound and includes beautiful Reiki energy with reikiwithreneeboorloo & Tina Dewberry

Reiki means universal energy and is a hands on practice where energy is transferred for relaxation and rebalancing. Renee & Tina will offer 2-3 Reiki positions of hands on healing or hands off aura healing, while you are bathed in sound.

SONOROUS SOUNDS OF WATER
Welcoming Djilba, the first spring in Boorloo!

A last minute trip up to Mundy with my dear soul sista saritah | Music To Lift You Up. You can hear her talking to the trees and birds in the last reel, and a bird responding back to her - sweet 💕

Once again I was drawn to the sounds and collaboration of environments. Wildflowers 🌼
All existing, competing, surviving, wayfinding - in Mundy reserve. I wonder if the word ‘Mundy’ relates to the Bahasa Indonesian word ‘mundi’ which means ‘bath’ or ‘to bathe’. Given the natural water flow and a space to bathe it seems synchronous.

JULY JOURNAL : SOUND SELECTOR

To end the month, an album that’s been on rotation nearly every morning on my turntable has been Naarm/Melbourne based jazz and soul singer/songstress ✨RITA SATCH✨ latest release, ‘Meet me in the Garden’.

After watching her perform live at a small venue in Boorloo, with my family in tow, we are all in awe of her writing, expression and lyricism. We are also lucky to have received one of her last vinyls on tour which she signed ⭐️

One of her trakxs was a reminder for us all, which is one of her daily mantras ‘don’t forget to breathe’….
