The question that you can ask yourself when it comes to your wellbeing/wellness (even not in the presence of a naturopath)

24/08/2026

I met my new supervisor for hypnotherapy last week and she also has another talent that is rare to find!
Supervision is required for hypnotherapy, counselling, and sexology, but not naturopathy! I think it should be a requirement, but generally, most naturopaths have a mentoring group or peers that they can speak with.
I am very excited about this new addition to my professional life!

I have been a practicing naturopath for 17 years and I have seen many fads come and go. In the first few years I would say yes to everything client that walked through my door. It’s only been in the past 5 years that I have been saying no to….
🤦🏻‍♀️Meal planning- I am happy to send you a few recipe ideas and my favourite food websites, but it stops here.
🤦🏻‍♀️ Weight loss programs- with the cultural obsession with shrinking bodies…I just can’t do it . Let’s focus on strong bodies instead
🤦🏻‍♀️Spring detoxes- ‘see above’
🤦🏻‍♀️ Clean eating - I live in a real world and find this unrealistic expectation covered in privilege
Let me know what annoys you about the health industry….

Following on from a conversation on the weekend. Talking about L*bioplasty surgery

If you tell something to yourself for long enough, you begin to believe it!
Both lies can still creep back into my thoughts..fortunately, I have grown to have enough self awareness to know when it’s happening. It ain’t easy though!
Both lies have had me frozen in moving forward. The regret? How much time I have wasted…but, I have also learned from this too. Aaahhh….the joys of learning on every form…
I would love to know the lies you have told yourself and you no longer believe…

Content Warning ⚠️ Talking about eating disorders ‼️
There are 3 occasions across the ‘female’ life span when the risk of developing an eating disorder is the highest.
1- adolescents (puberty)
2- Pregnancy (post partum)
3- menopause transition
According to the 1 in 4 people goi g through menopause have poor body image.
A recent research article stated that perimenopausal people experiencing an eating disorder displayed Binge Eating Disorder (BED) or Bulimia.
With lowering estrogen levels, weight gain can be common with the distribution of weight shifting to the waistline.
People have often shared with me that their eating and exercise habits have not changed, yet the scales keep creeping up.
Living in a culture that promotes youth and unrealistic beauty standards only adds to the complexity and shame that can be felt during this time.
I feel very passionate about this topic and I have only just begun!

A study in 2021 asked 171 women and 20 men how many holes women had ‘down below’ and only 46% got it correct.
Many people think the vaginal opening and the urethra are the same thing. In the study, only 9% labelled all of the parts correctly.
Am I surprised? No….
Basic anatomy has not been taught and using correct names of reproductive parts was not taught.
Thankfully, this is slowly changing. But we have a long way to go!

Creatine is no longer just used for the gym, more research is coming out on its other benefits.
What is creatine?
Our bodies naturally make creatine and 95% of it is found in skeletal muscle. We make creatine from amino acids, but mostly get it from meat and fish.
Creatine is beneficial for:
- strength training and muscle recovery
- cognition and brain health
- healthy ageing, especially as we loose 1% of our muscle mass per year over the age of 40
- supports bone health by maintaining bone density
- supports muscle mass- if you are taking GLP-1 you need to take creatine!
- helps fatigue and mood
Shout out to my perimenopause peeps! Creatine helps with short term memory, fatigue and sleep deprivation and maintains bone health
If you’re vegan or vegetarian, your creatine levels might be low and supplementation will help.
Take 5 gm/d before or after exercise. But you can take it any time!
For maximum absorption, take with some carbs or protein
If you have chronic kidney disease, chat to your doctor first!

Sexologists talk a lot about sexuality. But what does it mean?

Sexuality includes your beliefs, experiences and your behaviour as a sexual being. Your sexual orientation, your gender identity and your desires also are part of your sexuality. Your sexuality can be influenced by your past experiences, society, religious beliefs, and culture.

Sexuality wellbeing is a term I use a lot when I am supporting people. Sexual wellbeing is your mental, physical and emotional health and how they relate to sexuality. Your sexual wellbeing can be influenced by your accessibility to sexual health care, reproductive rights, inclusive language, consent, sexual safety, communication, and can also be influenced by laws, regulations and societal influences.

If you are keen to know more about these topics, give me a follow!
