Upcoming changes to personal care funding!🛁👚

From 1 October 2026, personal care services are moving from the Independence category to the Clinical Supports category under the Support at Home program.

This means personal care, including showering, dressing, continence support, eating assistance and help with medication, will become fully funded by the Australian Government.

What this means for you as a Support at Home Participant?
If personal care is included in your support plan and you have funding available, any contributions you currently pay towards personal care services will no longer apply from 1 October 2026 onwards.

A few things worth knowing:
- Services delivered before 1 October 2026 will still carry the usual contribution, even if invoiced afterwards.
- Your care and your caregivers stay the same, this is a change to funding categories only, not to how your care is delivered.
- Contributions for everyday living services like domestic assistance and gardening remain unchanged.
