Giving birth is only the beginning of a new journey.

Sometimes we give it so much importance and our whole focus, that we forget that our lives continues beyond that threshold. That this is more to do and plan for.

And if you are indeed planning for afterwards, remember to plan for yourself and your partner and not only for the baby.

Postpartum is a transformative journey.

Take time to reflect, honour your body, mind and soul as you go through this powerful time of change.

The transformation takes time, but every step is worth it.

Postpartum looks different for everyone!

I do my best to stay flexible and adapt to the changing situation. We might plan for a food prep and self-care day but the moment I open the door, this plan might need to shift and change.

Postpartum support is not about making rigid plans and having an endless checklist. It is about meeting you where you are at.

In postpartum you might find yourself waiting for help that never comes.
They say that they want to help you out but need a formal invitation and an extensive to-do list.
Everything has to be laid out perfectly for them in advance so they can ‘help’.
Those who truly want to support and nurture you, won’t need an invitation. They’ll simply show up and start doing without being asked.

When you are pregnant and preparing for life after your baby is here, people mostly get carried away and buy buy buy.. so many newborn clothes, baby gears and gadgets that they might not even use.
You only think about what the baby might need and completely brush over what you will need.
Take a step back, forget about the baby and imagine the first few days and weeks, what will YOU want as a new mum?

During a time when all eyes are on the newborn, mama know that you deserve the same level of care, attention and nurturing too.

As a postaprtum doula, I’ll always remind you that you are doing your best and I am here to hold you.

After the list of things I would redo postpartum, here’s a list of things I would like to do the next time.

1. Going outside daily
2. Click and Collect groceries
3. Debrief birth with a trusted person
4. Meal prep more variety and freeze in small portions
5. Care less about other people

Here’s my list and I totally forgot to add meal prep and freeze everything.

1. Early breakfast
2. Early bedtime
3. Appt with an IBCLC
4. Postpartum bodywork
5. Pelvic steaming
6. Cosleeping

What have you done postpartum and plan to do again?
