Eskleigh Foundation Inc

Eskleigh Foundation Inc Eskleigh is a not-for-profit providing high quality support to people with a disability and people needing respite

We are governed by a passionate Board of Directors, strongly committed to Eskleigh’s mission, and are greatly reliant on the financial support and generosity of the Tasmanian community. Eskleigh is staffed by paid, qualified employees and volunteers. We operate a 42 bed supported accommodation with full time, qualified nursing and support staff at Eskleigh Home in Perth, Northern Tasmania. We also

offer contemporary residential homes in Longford, Kings Meadows, Montrose and Mornington, where people with a disability requiring moderate support live as part of a group home arrangement. Both Eskleigh Home and the residential homes support and accommodate younger adults with varying levels of intellectual or physical disability, including disabilities caused by an Acquired Brain Injury. Eskleigh also boasts a premier statewide community support network, offering in-home care and respite services, enabling people with a disability to stay in the comfort of their own home with full support and daily healthcare. Delivering a real quality of life Eskleigh enables hundreds of Tasmanians with a range of disabilities to enjoy a meaningful, active and fulfilling way of life. Established in 1947, we have a long and proud history supporting people with a disability at a range of levels so that they may enjoy a quality of life not otherwise possible. With our supported accommodation options, attendant care and respite services and community events, Eskleigh supports and encourages clients to embrace life and become active members of their community, enriching not only the lives of people with a disability but feeding back into a prosperous Tasmanian community.

For those of you who follow us on Facebook you'll know that Airmaster has generously donated and installed 17 heat pumps for Eskleigh! A huge thank you to the Airmaster team for the incredible donation and for your professionalism and kindness while on site. Your support means so much to us!

In particular, we would like to thank members of the team, including Neil, Cormac, Zac, Scott, James, Chan, Graham, Mark, David, Tom and Wayne. Also, a big thanks to Daikin and Airmaster suppliers: Actrol, Rexel Electrical, NHP Electrical & Dynamite TAS, all who donated various installation & electrical equipment cost-free.

Shoutout to our staff who worked to ensure a smooth installation process, moving participants out of their rooms and then back in. Your dedication is really appreciated!

These new heat pump units will significantly enhance the comfort of the people we support during the hot summer days and throughout the cold winter months.

We held a thank-you BBQ yesterday for the Airmaster team so that we could say thank you.

Thank you, Airmaster, from all of us here at Eskleigh!

Farewell, Morning Tea for Our Art Therapy Team

Last Thursday, we hosted a lovely farewell morning tea for our dedicated art therapy volunteers, who have now retired—except for Christine, who will continue leading art sessions for the people we support. Over the years, these volunteers have helped create beautiful paintings that have been showcased and sold at local art shows, including the recent Longford Bloom Festival.

Thanks to the proceeds from some of our art sales, we were thrilled to invite 'Majick Feathers' and his delightful birds for an entertaining session, combining this celebration with our heartfelt gratitude to our art volunteers.

For more than 16 years, the art therapy program at Eskleigh has thrived, fostering a vibrant environment of creativity and connection among our community. This initiative has been beautifully led by Aileen Gough, Carlene Bullock, Erika Cox, and Christine Davson-Gallee, who have built meaningful relationships with the people we support, enriching their lives through art.

The journey of our art therapy began with the Launceston Arts Society, which held its meetings here in exchange for providing art therapy sessions for Eskleigh. This program is more than just creating art; it’s about nurturing community, fostering relationships, and enhancing the lives of everyone at Eskleigh.

We will truly miss Aileen, Carlene, and Erika, but hope they visit us often. If you're an artist with some spare time, we invite you to consider volunteering with us! Reach out at [email protected]
