✨🎡Throwback Thursday to one of the Fraser Coast’s most loved community events 🎡✨

Fraser Coast FestAble is an annual festival celebrating diversity, inclusion and community 💚Hosted by My Hero and shaped by the disability community itself, it's all about bringing people together for a fun, welcoming day where everyone feels included and celebrated 😊

Looking back at last year's photos has us so excited for Festable 2026! 🥳From the live music and activities to seeing familiar faces, meeting new people and watching everyone just enjoy themselves, it's always such a good vibe!

One of the best parts for us is seeing the community come together to help make it happen every year. FestABLE has grown into something really special and we’re so proud to be part of it alongside so many amazing people 🙌

Bring on FestABLE 2026! 🎉

✨🎡 Someone say Show Day?! 🎡✨

We made the most of it yesterday and had the best time soaking up all the fun!🎢 Between the rides, games, stalls and way too many tempting snacks, there was so much to do!! And of course… we couldn't say no to a bit of face paint 😆🎨

What an awesome way to build confidence, try new things and just enjoy being part of the community 😊💚

We love being part of moments like this and creating opportunities for our participants to get out, connect and make some really special memories ✨

Hi, I’m Gabbi 😊🫶

I’m the social media manager here at My Hero… but I’m also a person living with disability! I started working with My Hero a little over a year ago, and truly, it’s helped me learn and grow in ways I never expected 💚

Before this role, I’d never had a job before, even though it was something I really wanted for myself. It was never just about earning money. I craved the independence and confidence that comes from working hard and earning something for yourself 🙌 But at the same time, I worried constantly about whether I’d actually be able to work while still looking after my health and wellbeing.

Because my disability fluctuates, I convinced myself that no one would want to hire me. In my head, I was “too unreliable” to be a good employee. I felt anxious and insecure about the idea of working because I thought getting a job would mean constantly pushing myself beyond my limits and risking my health just to keep up.

But then I was given the opportunity to work with My Hero and learn more about social media 😁📸💻

One of the biggest things this role has taught me is that getting a job shouldn't require you to force yourself into it, sometimes it’s about creating a role that fits you instead 🤗 I’ve always been a creative person and already had an interest in things like photo editing and content creation, so together we were able to shape this role around my strengths, my needs, and what works best for me.

Some days you’ll see me working in the office, other days I’m working from my bed. If my health flares up and I need time off, that’s okay too. Having a job that actually works around me and my disability has genuinely been life-changing 🌟

Because of that support, I’ve had the space to learn, create, connect with so many amazing people, and grow so much as a person. I love meeting other participants, and you’ll usually spot me at our monthly community BBQs taking photos and chatting with everyone 📸😌

Through this role, I’ve gained so much confidence and it's shown me just how important it is for businesses, organisations and communities to look beyond someone's disability and see the person underneath. Sometimes all someone needs is a role that works with their strengths, their needs, and the way they function best ✨ You might just discover one of the most passionate, creative and dedicated employees you've ever had! 😁

If you see me around the office or any of the My Hero Events, feel free to say hi! 👋😊

💎🗿 Treasure hunting IRL 😁💎

We tried something new and went to Opals Down Under, getting curious in the scratch patch searching for our own opals 😊🪏🩵

Plenty of focus, a bit of patience and a few solid finds today!! 😁

☔️ Our Community BBQ has been cancelled due to the expected rain tomorrow 🌧️

We’re so disappointed to miss out on a sunny day together, but it’s the perfect chance to enjoy some cozy indoor fun instead!

Here are a few rainy-day ideas:
📚 Read a book
🎬 Watch a movie or show
🍪 Bake something yummy
🎲 Play board games

Stay safe, stay dry, and enjoy a relaxing day indoors — we’ll see you all next month 💚😊

💚🥳 A proud moment worth celebrating 🥳💚

We had the pleasure of supporting one of our participants at the Hervey Bay Twilight Youth Markets ⛺️🎉 We worked together to get everything organised, set up her stall and then backed her as she spent the day selling and chatting with customers!!

She pushed herself outside her comfort zone and handled it all so well 💪 By the end of the day, you could see how proud she was of herself and of course so are we!!! 🙌🏻🤩

The best part? She’s already keen to do it all again 😊
A big win and a moment we’re so glad to be part of 💚

Such a good morning together 😁💚

Such a good morning together 😁💚

🎶👀Not your average Friday 👀 🎶

On Friday, some of our crew headed along to My Hero Disability Services K-pop event and had the best time. They got stuck into decorating toploaders, designing their own lightsticks, and jumped into a very competitive round of “save one, drop one”. 💙

The day was a whole lot of fun connecting with others and enjoying the music and creativity together! 😊
