Why do we use manual therapy?

We use the 3 R framework: Reset, Reinforce, Reload.

Manual therapy can help Reset movement and reduce symptoms, but that’s only the first step.

We then Reinforce the changes with targeted exercises before Reloading the body to build strength, capacity and confidence.

The goal isn’t just to make you feel better; it’s to help create lasting change.

It’s World Physiotherapy Day! 💪

We asked our practitioners one question: Why do you love being a physio?

From helping people get back to doing what they love, to seeing the progress along the way, there’s plenty of reasons why we love what we do.

Happy World Physio Day from the Movement Therapy team!

Poor sleep and stress can turn up your pain sensitivity, even when there’s no new damage.

Your nervous system becomes more focused on potential threats, meaning the same physical load can feel more painful when you’re run down or stressed.

Don’t automatically stop moving. Adjust the load, prioritise sleep and recovery, and gradually build back up as symptoms settle.

Pain is real, but pain intensity isn’t always a direct measure of tissue damage

Rehab doesn’t end when you feel better.

Being out of pain is a milestone, not the finish line.

That’s why rehab needs to progress through objective checkpoints, including strength, power, running, change of direction and sport-specific testing.

The goal isn’t just to get you out of pain. It’s to make sure you’re ready for what comes next.

Cold weather can make tendons feel stiffer, more sensitive and harder to move but that doesn’t mean you should stop loading them.

The key to tendon rehab is finding the right load for where you’re at and progressively building your capacity over time.

If your tendon pain keeps coming back, it might be time to reassess the load and your rehab plan.

How high can you jump?

The vertical jump is more than just a performance test. It’s a great measure of lower-limb power, which plays an important role in both rehab and everyday life.

From standing up and climbing stairs to reacting quickly when you lose your balance, lower-limb power matters.

Training power helps build the capacity to perform better, move confidently and stay resilient.
