Congratulations Desmond Muzorewa

Parkindula Reserve parkrun community, please join me to share Desmond Muzorewa’s wonderful parkrun journey (written by his wife Taffy) after he just completed his 250th parkrun on Saturday 🙌 It is lovely to see how their whole family is participating in parkrun and also each achieved a milestone on Saturday (Taffy’s 50th volunteer, Alex 25th parkrun). Congratulations to all of you on your achievements 🤩

Desmond’s parkrun story started at Delta parkrun in Johannesburg, South Africa. Gone were the Saturday sleep ins. Parkrun was the start of Des’ running story. I however, grossly underestimated the passion he had for it. When we moved to Port Pirie, 5 years ago it became aparent that Des loved his parkruns. He did a couple of drive to Port Broughton parkrun, found it too hard.
I watched in absolute awe, as Des began the process of starting a parkrun in Port Pirie. So many hours were put in, so many runs to test the course. Des is the founder of Memorial parkrun, a 3 course lap that was made designed using lots of mathematical theorems.
I started participating in parkrun as support for Des. Now I love it as well. We have loved watching our son Alex participate and volunteer.
We are so chuffed to celebrate my 50th volunteer milestone, and Alex’s 25tb parkrun on the same day as Des 💚. It’s become a family event, and we forward to more milestone.

Sorry for the late post 🫣
