✨ Tonight is the night! ✨

What a journey it has been.

I am incredibly honoured to be a finalist in not one, but two categories at the 2026 PHCCI Business Awards:
🏆 Excellence in Leading with Innovation
🏆 Best Micro Business (0–6 Employees)

As a sole operator, Emotional Etchings has grown from a dream into a thriving business supporting children, families, adults, schools, and community organisations across the Pilbara. Every session, every painting, every conversation, and every connection has helped shape this journey.

Tonight I get to swap the paint-covered clothes for something a little more sparkly and celebrate alongside so many amazing local businesses. ✨

Thank you to everyone who has supported Emotional Etchings—my clients, families, referral partners, schools, community organisations, friends, and cheerleaders. Your trust and encouragement mean more than words can say.

No matter the outcome tonight, I already feel incredibly proud of how far Emotional Etchings has come.

Now it’s time to get dressed up, sparkle a little, and enjoy the evening! ❤️✨

✨ Creating Spaces Outside ✨

What started as a blank wall is slowly becoming something much more meaningful.

As part of my work at Turner River Rehabilitation Centre, I've been exploring how creativity can be used to transform not just physical spaces, but also the way people connect with their environment and community.

This project, *Creating Spaces Outside*, is still very much a work in progress, but already the space is beginning to feel warmer, more welcoming, and reflective of the beautiful Pilbara landscape that surrounds us.

The project forms part of my submission for the **Excellence in Leading with Innovation** category at the PHCCI Business Awards, and I'm incredibly proud to be named a finalist.

For me, innovation isn't about technology—it's about finding new ways to support wellbeing, connection, belonging, and pride. Through art, residents have opportunities to contribute ideas, develop skills, share stories, and help shape the environment around them.

There's still plenty more to come, but I wanted to share a little glimpse of the journey so far.

Thank you to the wonderful team at Turner River Rehabilitation Centre and the residents who continue to embrace the project with enthusiasm and creativity. ❤️

🎨🩷 Art as Therapy Isn’t Just for Children 🩷🎨

At Emotional Etchings, I often talk about the power of creativity to support emotional wellbeing, reduce stress, and create moments of calm. This past week, I took my own advice.

This vibrant pink cockatoo was painted as part of my own creative self-care practice. As the colours built up and the feathers began to emerge, so did a sense of calm, focus, and joy.

Art therapy isn’t about creating a masterpiece. It’s about the process—the opportunity to slow down, be present, express yourself, and reconnect with what matters.

Whether you’re 7 or 70, creativity has a remarkable way of helping us make sense of our thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

What creative activity helps you recharge? 🌿✨

This beautiful artwork has taken one of my young clients over 6 months to complete and finished just before Mother's Day! 🌸

When she first started therapy, one of the biggest challenges was confidence, perfectionism, and wanting to give up when things became difficult or didn’t feel “good enough” straight away.

Over the past several months, this piece became so much more than just art.

It became about:
✨ Patience
✨ Perseverance
✨ Attention to detail
✨ Learning to slow down
✨ Working through frustration
✨ Believing in herself
✨ Continuing even when things felt hard

Session by session, flower by flower, she kept coming back to it.

For many children, success is not about being naturally talented — it’s about learning that they can keep going, problem solve, and create something meaningful over time.

I am so incredibly proud of the commitment, focus, and resilience she showed in completing this piece 💙

And honestly… the finished artwork is absolutely stunning 🌸

A little before & after transformation for the request box at Yaandina Turner River Rehabilitation Centre 🎨✨

From tired, worn out and barely noticeable… to bright, colourful and full of personality 🌈

I wanted to create something fun, welcoming and impossible to ignore — because even small changes can make a space feel more positive and inviting 💙

So… what do you think?
👇 Which one do you prefer?
🟤 The old request box
🌈 Or the new brightly painted version?

Last week I had the privilege of presenting the completed “Tree of Life” artwork to the wonderful residents and staff at Karlarra House 🌳💙

This special project was facilitated by Emotional Etchings in partnership with the Town of Port Hedland and represents the journeys, stories, strengths, and individuality of the residents through their decorated handprints placed upon the tree.

Each hand tells its own story — filled with memories, personality, resilience, and connection. It was such a meaningful experience watching the residents contribute to something that now symbolises community, belonging, and life experiences shared together.

A huge thank you to the Town of Port Hedland for supporting this beautiful initiative and to everyone at Karlarra House for welcoming me so warmly throughout the project.

Art has such a powerful way of bringing people together, creating conversations, and helping people feel seen and valued 💙

✨ I’m incredibly honoured to be named a finalist in the PHCCI Business Awards for Excellence in Leading with Innovation and Best Micro Business (0–6 Employees) ✨

Running a small business in Hedland comes with its fair share of challenges — distance, resources, and the juggle of wearing all the hats — but it’s also one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. The strength, resilience, and support within this community is something truly special 💜💚🩷

I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge and thank all of the entrants. It takes courage to put yourself and your business forward, and every single person contributing to our local economy is making a difference.

A huge congratulations to all of the other finalists — it’s an honour to be alongside so many inspiring businesses doing incredible things in our region 👏

And to everyone who has supported Emotional Etchings along the way — clients, families, organisations, and this amazing community — thank you. This recognition is shared with you.

No matter the outcome, I’m already feeling very grateful ✨
