๐ A Little Appreciation Post for Justin ๐
Not to toot his own horn, because Justin would never do it himself, but I feel like sometimes the person who is constantly working behind the scenes deserves to be recognised too.
This man has worked all week, and yesterday he started at 6:00am and didnโt get to bed until around 11:00pm. He and two of our amazing support workers took 7 of our participants to Adelaide Zoo and the SA Museum, giving them the opportunity to get out, experience something different, make memories and, most importantly, have an amazing day.
Then today, instead of putting his feet up after such a massive week, heโs back at the office working on the fence to make sure our outdoor area is safe and accessible for our participants.
And this is just one weekend.
There is so much that Justin does for J&D Supports that people don't always get to see.
Heโs the one fixing things, building things, maintaining our spaces, organising our vehicles, helping set up our programs, planning activities and trips, supporting our staff, working directly alongside our participants and constantly thinking about what we can do next to make J&D Supports better.
If something needs doing, Justin will usually find a way to get it done.
He doesn't just sit behind a desk and run a business. He gets in there and does the work. Heโll pick up the tools, jump in the van, attend supports, help with programs, spend his weekends improving our spaces and do whatever needs to be done to make sure our participants are safe, supported and given opportunities to be part of their community.
So much of what we have created at J&D Supports has come from wanting to give people more โ more opportunities, more experiences, more inclusion, more choice and somewhere they genuinely feel welcome.
And Justin puts his whole heart into making that happen.
As his wife and the person who gets to see just how much goes on behind closed doors, I couldn't be prouder.
I see the long hours. I see the stress. I see the phone calls, the planning, the problem-solving and the times when something needs doing and you simply get up and do it.
But I also get to see the reason behind it all.
I see how much you genuinely care about our participants. I see how happy you are when an idea comes together, when someone tries something new, when a participant achieves something or when one of our crazy ideas turns into another opportunity for the people we support. ๐
J&D Supports isn't just a business to you. It means something to you.
I'm incredibly proud of everything we have built together, but I'm even prouder of the heart you continue to put into it.
Thank you for everything you do for J&D Supports, our staff, our participants and our community โ including all the things nobody ever sees.
I see them.
And I hope you know how incredibly proud I am to be standing beside you, building this together. ๐
