💙 HAPPY FATHER’S DAY FROM DEVELOPING UR LIFE 💙

Today we celebrate the dads, stepdads, grandfathers, foster dads, carers, mentors and father figures who show up, stand beside, encourage and believe in the people around them.

Fatherhood and being a positive role model can look different in every family — but the impact of having someone who listens, supports, guides, encourages and simply keeps showing up can last a lifetime. 💙

We also want to recognise the incredible dads and father figures within our Developing Ur Life team.

Many of our staff will spend part of today supporting others — helping people access their community, enjoy time with family, build independence, create memories and live the life they choose.

To our team working this Father’s Day — thank you. 🙌
Thank you for giving your time, bringing your energy and continuing to provide quality, person-centred support, even on days that are special to your own families.

And to the fathers, father figures and important men within our clients’ lives, families, staff team and wider community — we hope today reminds you just how much the everyday things matter.

SHOWCASE SATURDAY

THE SYSTEMS BEHIND THE SUPPORT

This Saturday, we’re showcasing something you don’t always see in our photos.

Not an outing.
Not an activity.
Not a program.

The systems behind them — and one of the incredible people behind those systems.

🌟 Meet Jodi, our Compliance Manager.

We can genuinely say that Developing Ur Life would not be where it is today without her.

As our service has grown, so too have the systems, safeguards and responsibilities that sit behind providing safe, high-quality disability supports.

And sometimes, those systems are represented by something very tangible.

❤️ Like our AED — Automated External Defibrillator.

We hope we never need to use it.

But being prepared before an emergency happens is what good systems are all about.

And preparedness is about much more than having a piece of equipment on the wall.

It means having staff trained in first aid, clear emergency and evacuation procedures, accessible emergency equipment, established escalation and incident-response processes, risk management systems, and people who understand what to do when it matters most.

The AED is just one visible example of a much bigger picture.

Behind the scenes at Developing Ur Life are systems supporting:

✔️ First aid and safety equipment
✔️ Emergency and evacuation procedures
✔️ Participant safeguarding
✔️ Risk assessment and management
✔️ Worker screening and credential requirements
✔️ Staff training and competencies

✔️ Policies and procedures
✔️ Feedback and complaints

Because quality isn’t simply about having policies in a folder.

It’s about making sure those policies, procedures and safeguards are understood, implemented and embedded in everyday practice.

It’s asking:

Are we prepared?
Are our people trained?
Are risks being identified and managed?
Do people know what to do in an emergency?
Are our systems actually working?
Are we meeting our responsibilities?
And — what can we do better?

That last question is one Jodi never stops asking. 💚

Jodi works tirelessly behind the scenes reviewing, checking, updating, questioning, preparing, documenting and strengthening the systems that underpin Developing Ur Life.

Much of that work will never appear in the photos we share.

But it is some of the most important work we do.

Because participants, families and the people who trust us with their support shouldn’t have to think about every system operating behind the scenes.

They should be able to trust that we already have.

👏 So today, we’re showcasing Jodi — and the enormous amount of work that happens behind every support we provide.

Thank you for your knowledge, persistence, attention to detail and unwavering commitment to quality.

For keeping us accountable.
For challenging us to improve.
For helping us prepare for the things we hope never happen.
And for ensuring that as Developing Ur Life continues to grow, our systems, safeguards and standards grow with us.

We truly wouldn’t be where we are today without you.

And because Jodi isn’t particularly interested in having her face all over Facebook… we found a very appropriate alternative from last Halloween. 🎃😂

😏 WHEN THE BOSSES ARE AWAY… LOOK WHAT THE TEAM GETS UP TO! 😂💙

Apparently leaving Sam, our Activities Coordinator, and the DUL team in charge means one thing…

They get it DONE! 🙌

What a fantastic afternoon at Developing Ur Life!

And there was plenty happening before the first sausage even hit the BBQ!

Our workers were busy planning, shopping, preparing activities, putting together an incredible selection of Father’s Day gifts, setting up the space and getting everything ready to welcome people through the doors.

Then Sam and the team took it one step further…

Why wait for the community to come inside when you can head out the front and invite them in?! 😂🙌

Our workers were literally out the front encouraging people to stop, grab something from the BBQ and come and see what was happening.

THAT is the DUL spirit. 💙

Get involved. Be approachable. Have a laugh. Start a conversation. Create the opportunity rather than waiting for it to happen.

And inside, there was just as much happening — pool, games, crafts, personalised Father’s Day creations, gifts, food, conversations and plenty of laughs.

Even better, our clients were part of making the afternoon happen. Helping at the BBQ, preparing and serving food, choosing activities, creating gifts, playing games and connecting with the people around them.

Because participation isn’t about standing on the sidelines while someone else creates the experience for you.

It’s about being part of it.

A massive shout-out to Sam for coordinating the afternoon and to our workers who stepped up from beginning to end — preparation, set-up, cooking, activities, supporting clients, welcoming families and community members, and everything else happening behind the scenes.

And thank you to our clients, families and everyone who stopped by. Whether you came for an activity, a game of pool, a Father’s Day gift, a chat… or were simply convinced by our very enthusiastic team out the front that you needed a sausage 😂— we loved having you!

🏆 A VERY PROUD MOMENT FOR DEVELOPING UR LIFE 🏆

2022 • 2023 • 2026

Today, we are incredibly proud to share that Developing Ur Life Director, Emma Nunan, has once again been recognised at the 2026 Enablement Awards, receiving the award for:

✨ The Most Outstanding Social Worker in Australia in 2026 ✨

This marks the third time Emma has received this recognition, following the same honour in 2022 and 2023.

While today is an acknowledgement of Emma and her professional contribution, we know she would be the first to say that what sits behind this recognition is something much bigger.

It is Developing Ur Life.
It is our people.
It is our participants and families.
And it is the communities we are privileged to work within.

Developing Ur Life has grown considerably over the years, but our purpose has remained clear: to provide services that are responsive, accountable, person-centred and genuinely capable of making a difference in people’s lives.

That doesn’t happen because of one person.

It happens because of an extraordinary team of people who bring our values to life every single day.

Our staff travel the kilometres. They advocate. They problem-solve. They navigate complexity. They celebrate achievements that others may never see. They work through the difficult days and continue showing up with compassion, professionalism and determination.

Behind them are people working tirelessly across leadership, clinical practice, administration, quality, safeguarding, compliance and service development to ensure that as Developing Ur Life grows, the quality and integrity of what we provide grows with it.

And at the centre of all of this are the participants, children, adults and families who trust us to walk alongside them.

That trust is something we never take for granted.

Emma’s leadership has always challenged our organisation to look beyond simply providing a service and instead ask:

Are we making a meaningful difference?
Are we achieving better outcomes?
Are we listening?
Are we learning?
And can we do better?

That thinking continues to shape the organisation we are becoming.

We are particularly proud that this recognition comes from work being undertaken here in regional South Australia.

Our location should never determine the standard of service people can access. We believe regional communities deserve quality, innovation, strong professional practice and genuine choice — and we will continue working towards exactly that.

This is what we love about individualised support.

It isn’t about filling someone’s day with activities chosen for them. It’s about supporting people to take care of the everyday things that need doing and then having the opportunity, choice and confidence to get out and live their life.

Home skills matter.
Community participation matters.
Health and movement matter.
Social connection matters.
And having fun matters too.

Today we’re making the most of the amazing facilities our regional communities have to offer — and this morning, Port Augusta is certainly turning it on! ☀️🌊🎣
