HIP PAIN: IS IT REALLY ARTHRITIS?
Not all hip pain is caused by arthritis.
In fact, many people diagnosed with “wear and tear” actually have irritation of the tendons around the hip.
It may be tendon-related if your pain:
✓ Hurts on the outside or side of the hip
✓ Is worse after walking, gardening, exercising or climbing stairs
✓ Is painful when lying on that side at night
✓ Improves once you get moving and warm up
✓ Makes it uncomfortable to stand on one leg
It may be more likely arthritis if your pain:
• Is felt deep in the groin or front of the hip
• Causes stiffness first thing in the morning
• Makes it difficult to put on socks or shoes
• Limits your hip movement
The good news?
Both respond extremely well to our Physio management, the right exercise program and load management.
