Hip flexors are a group of muscles that help flex your hip, allowing you to do things like lift your knee and bend at the hip.

The five main muscles involved are the iliacus, psoas, pectineus, re**us femoris, and sartorius.

Why should we strengthen them?

✅ Prolonged sitting can cause these muscles to become tight and shortened, while also reducing their strength.

✅ Strong hip flexors are important for athletic performance, especially activities that involve running, sprinting, and changing direction quickly.

✅ Building strength, particularly through eccentric exercises, may help reduce back pain that can be linked to poor hip flexor function.

Balance North Health & Wellbeing is looking for a Clinical Psychologist or Registered Psychologist to join our growing allied health team in Preston.⁠

This contractor role begins at 1 day per week, with opportunity to grow your caseload over time within an established and supportive clinic environment. You’ll work alongside physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, dietitians and massage therapists, supported by a dedicated admin team.⁠

If you’re passionate about providing high quality, evidence-based care in a calm and collaborative setting, we’d love to hear from you.⁠
