This clever 500 ml concentrate makes three full 500 ml bottles of bathroom cleaner. Simply pour one-third into your empty Koala Eco spray bottle and top it up with water.

My current favourites for health, training and recovery. 🏃‍♀️

I’ve loved exercising for as long as I can remember. But during the ten years I’ve been running Sassy Organics, I’ve been very on and off with it. Long days and the constant demands of a small business have often pushed exercise down the list.

This year, I decided to get properly back into it. I probably went in a little too quickly, but I can’t help myself. I’ve gone from Bikram hot-yoga classes to running, gym sessions and hiking, sometimes all in the same week.

I love it, but keeping up with that much movement while working the hours I do means being mindful of hydration, protein, recovery and what I put into my body.

These are the products I’m currently using:

A reminder about a program I’m proud to offer at Sassy Organics. ♻️

Our TerraCycle Recycling Program gives eligible beauty and personal-care empties a specialist route when household recycling cannot take them.

Why is it needed? Beauty packaging is often small and complex. Pumps may combine different plastics with a metal spring, while tubes, mascara and lipstick packs, caps and multilayer sachets may be too small or too mixed for kerbside sorting systems. Even natural beauty packaging does not automatically belong in the yellow bin.

This is not just an industry claim. Boroondara Council directs empty plastic cosmetic tubes, with lids and pumps left on, to general waste. Glen Eira says cosmetics packaging typically belongs in the red bin. Council rules vary, so check yours first.

ABC News reported that more than 10,000 tonnes of cosmetic waste is estimated to go to landfill in Australia each year because much of it is too small or complex for kerbside recycling.

The Guardian has highlighted pumps and tubes as difficult formats and specialist programs such as TerraCycle as part of the solution.

How it works:

♻️ Save eligible empty skincare, cosmetic and hair-care packaging from any brand or retailer until you have a reasonably full box.
♻️ Remove as much product as possible. Washing is not required, but do not send anything dripping.
♻️ Include your Sassy Organics account details and post the box to us at your cost.
♻️ We process it through our TerraCycle Zero Waste Box stream and add AU$10 store credit after each eligible box is processed.

TerraCycle sorts, shreds, washes and separates accepted materials so they can become recycled raw material for new products.

This does not replace the responsibility of beauty brands to improve their packaging. It gives hard-to-recycle empties a practical pathway while packaging design catches up.
