If You Work On A Computer, This Is Essential. Watch.

What if the biggest change you make this year takes 30 seconds and a stick?

Your chest has been closing all day.

Gently. Gradually. Without you noticing. And by the time you stand up from the desk, your shoulders are where your ears used to be.

This little practice reverses that. In the time it takes to boil the kettle.

Take a stick behind your back. Work it down as far as it goes. Press forward with your arms. Press back with your back. Try to break the stick. 10 breaths.

That's it.

But watch the chain of effect.

Your chest opens.
Which means your lungs expand.
Which means your breathing deepens.
Which means your nervous system calms.
Which means the tension across your shoulders softens.
Which means your neck stops compensating.
Which means the headache that was building quietly disappears before it arrives.

One stick. 30 seconds. And the whole afternoon feels different.

Not because you did something dramatic. Because you did something small at exactly the right moment.

That's the thing about the body.
It doesn't need grand gestures.
It needs small, consistent conversations.
A stretch of the chest between meetings.

A reset before the afternoon slump hits. A 30-second commitment that tells your body you're paying attention.

The little things aren't little. They're the things that compound.

Can't get the stick to your elbows yet? Perfect. That's your starting point. Wherever you can get it is exactly where you need to be.

Gentle practise allows the body to come back to it's natural thriving state. This is what makes The Body Magic Method so good at allowing your body to heal and thrive.

I’ve just spent two days filming three brand new Body Magic courses

A strength and conditioning course.

A floor flow mobility course.

And my personal favourite, Stick Fit.

Training with the stick has genuinely transformed my body. Strength, mobility, coordination, and neurological development, all woven into a single practice.

I also filmed a few bonus modules for those of you already working through the first course.

All three new courses will be available as standalone courses. But every one of them is built on the same foundation. The Body Magic Method.

Because strength built on a tense, misaligned body doesn’t create resilience.

It locks the dysfunction in deeper.

This is what most of fitness culture misses.

When we load a body that’s disconnected from its own nervous system, we don’t get stronger. We reinforce the very patterns creating the pain.

Real strength has an order to it.

First we relax the nervous system. Then we restore pain-free range and mobility. We rebuild whole-body coordination. We stimulate and rehydrate the fascia. We let alignment return on its own.

Only then does adding load or intensity become powerful, safe, and built to last.

That’s the foundation Body Magic lays inside you.

So wherever you’re starting from, whatever your current level of conditioning, begin here.

Lay the foundation, and let everything that comes next be built on solid ground.

Ready to develop strength your body can carry for the rest of your life?

One of the things I love most about traditional sword practice is its purity.

It isn’t about how big you are. It isn’t about how strong you are.

It’s about how integrated your movement is.

How aware you are of your own body. Of the space around you. Of your connection to the ground beneath you, and to the blade in your hands.

Bring all of that together in one coordinated moment, and something opens.

The body is liberated. So is the mind.

A freedom of movement, and a freedom of thought.

Here’s the thing. You don’t have to study martial arts to take the wisdom from thousands of years of it.

Every single practice in the Body Magic Method has these principles woven into its DNA. Awareness. Integration. Coordination. Connection.

If you want to move freely, stay pain free, and keep a strength and mobility that carries you through the world with ease, particularly as you age, this is the work.

I built the Body Magic Method so anyone, at any level, can access it.

Most shoulder impingement starts with one thing.

A shoulder blade that’s stopped gliding.

Here’s what most people miss. When the shoulder blade is glued to the rib cage, not moving through its full range, the arm has nowhere to go.

So it forces the movement somewhere else.

That’s where impingement creeps in. That’s where the clicking, the pinching, the compensation starts.

When the shoulder blade glides freely again, the whole arm is set free with it. Reaching overhead, behind you, across the body, it all opens back up.

This beautiful little exercise brings movement back into the shoulder blade, and restores the shoulder as a whole.

Gentle. Slow. No force.

Just the joint relearning how to glide the way it was designed to.

Try it for yourself.

Then let me know what you feel in your body down in the comments.

I’d love to hear how you get on.

ā€œI should stretch more.ā€

ā€œI really need to work on my flexibility.ā€

I hear it from people every single day.

And I don’t agree with it.

I’m not as flexible as I was when I did twenty hours of yoga a week. But the quality of my movement? Far better. In every single way.
And I maintain it in a fraction of the time.

Here’s what nobody tells you about chasing flexibility.

When we hold static stretches at end range, pulling deeper and deeper, we’re not just lengthening muscle. We start lengthening the ligaments and connective tissue that hold our joints together.

Ligaments job is to keep the joint stable. Over stretching them creates joint instability.

A joint that moves further than it should is a joint at risk. That’s not injury prevention. That’s the setup for injury.

Mobility is a different conversation entirely.

Mobility means moving freely through your pain free range g motion, inviting your nervous system to open, releasing the whole fascial line rather than tugging on one vulnerable point.

By working on mobility rather than flexibility you develop confidence and coordination in your natural movement.

Stability and freedom together, not traded against each other.

This is the opposite of forcing the body to stretch.

It’s a conversation with the body, not a demand made of it.

And here’s the part that surprises people. You don’t need hours. A few minutes of mindful, intelligent movement does more for lasting mobility than chasing the splits ever will.

So no, you probably don’t need to stretch more.

You need to move better.

If you want to keep your mobility for life, the Body Magic Method shows you exactly how.

Here’s to healthy movement for life.

Pain is always your body’s way of telling you something important.

But here’s the catch.

When pain shows up, most of us start moving less. And the less we move, the more pain we feel.

A downward spiral. Tighter. Stiffer. Less freedom. Less balance. Less life.

Becoming a connoisseur of your body’s signals changes everything.

Sometimes pain is shouting, ā€œdon’t go there, I’m repairing.ā€ A torn ligament. A broken bone. Acute and clear.

After an acute injury, the body wraps the area in layer upon layer of protection. The ligament heals. The tear repairs. But the body doesn’t get the memo. The protective pattern stays in place long after it’s needed.

What was protection becomes the problem.

Other times pain is saying something different. ā€œI’ve lost connection here. I’m out of balance. I’ve become tense from misuse, or disuse.ā€

This kind of pain can still be screaming.

It’s not quieter. It’s confused. When the body loses connection to an area, the signals go haywire. They overreact. They under-respond. The volume cranks up not because something is broken, but because the wiring has tangled.

This is where gentle, mindful movement transforms everything. Dropping the intensity. Dropping the reps. Bringing smoothness into how you explore your range.

The Navy SEALs, some of the fittest humans on the planet, have a mantra. Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast.

Most people think this mantra is all about shooting. But shooting is fundamentally movement. When we move smoothly with awareness, our capacity expands.

If you’re experiencing pain when you move, and you’d like to be free of it, here’s my invitation.

Check out the Body Magic Method.

This is a beautiful mobility practice.

And the beauty of working with the wall is that you can find them all over the place…. You’ve probably even got a couple in your house that you could use.

This exercise may not look like much, but it’s brilliant for waking up the mobility in the shoulder blades and the spine.

It’s also brilliant for waking up our awareness of the back of our body.

Our brain has a map of our body called the homunculus. When we stimulate the back of the body, we help our brain develop that map.

The more accurate our map is the most smooth our movement will become, the more integrated our movement will become.

When we restore mobility and awareness at the same time, we stimulate the body to heal at very deep levels.

It doesn’t have to hurt and it doesn’t have to be hard work to be beneficial.

25/05/2026

This exercise is brilliant, not only for integrating the body, but also for developing the brain.

As we move across the midline of the body, we develop across hemispherical innovation within the brain. This is vitally important, particularly as we age.

Not all movement needs to be high intensity or high repetition to be beneficial for our movement, our health, or our quality of life.

If anywhere in this movement feels stiff or tight or restricted that gets to be feedback of where through our facial line our body is asking for attention and support.

I left this movement out of the Body Magic method course…. Which in hindsight may have been a little bit of an oversight.

But that’s OK because I get to share it with you now.

If you would like to free your body from stiffness, pain, and restriction I highly recommend having a look at the Body Magic method course.

Doesn’t matter what level of capability physical conditioning you’re currently in wherever you are currently at is a perfect place to start this course from. This isn’t about force, or strain, or stretching. This is about rebuilding your relationship with your body, restoring your bodyā€˜s natural function.

Restoring the body doesn’t need to hurt.

This exercise is so powerful for healing our facia, for restoring the aliveness, and the function, the connection of our fascia to our nervous system.

Our facia is our largest sensory organ. An in particular it’s our largest sensory organ for our sense of our self, our body in the present moment.

When our fascia is stressed, tense, tight, dehydrated, dysfunctional it has a negative effect on our sense of ourselves.

When our fascia is healthy, fluid, integrated alive we become powerful and present in our body.

What do you notice in your body when you do this exercise? Let me know in the comments I’d love to hear.

You can change your day in less than ninety seconds.

Sometimes that’s all it takes to reset our entire system.

Misogi is a Japanese word meaning purification, and that’s exactly what this practice does. It washes away the residue of the day that was, and clears the runway for the day ahead.

The physical benefits of this exercise are only half the story.

When you marry the movement with the breath, something extraordinary happens. The chattering mind quiets. The body softens. And you drop into the one place where peace actually lives.

The present moment.

You can do Misogi first thing in the morning to set your tone for the day. You can do it after a difficult meeting to discharge the tension. You can do it before bed to release everything you’ve been carrying.

When we practise this consistently, we restore whole body mobility and cultivate a powerful present moment awareness.

This is the magic of the Body Magic Method. Every practice can stand alone as a powerful tool throughout your day, or weave together into a twenty to thirty minute routine that, done consistently, dissolves stiffness, eases pain, restores mobility and brings genuine clarity to your thinking.

This is movement as medicine.
