A toes-to-nose mobilisation can be a lovely addition to your baby’s daily routine🍼👶🏾🐣

One of the gentle movement techniques I may use during a consult. This is a FREE and EASY technique you can also do at home to help mobilise your babies lower spine.

✨ Move slowly and gently
✨ Only move as far as your baby is comfortable
✨ Never force the movement
✨ Keep it playful and relaxed
✨ Stop if your baby appears distressed or uncomfortable

Many parents like to incorporate this movement during nappy changes, after bath time, or as part of their daily play routine.

Clinically, this movement allows me to assess how comfortably a baby moves through their hips, pelvis and lower back while encouraging gentle movement through these areas.

Parents often ask what I’m looking for during this technique. I’m assessing things such as:
✨ Movement symmetry
✨ Hip mobility
✨ Comfort with movement
✨ Movement patterns

As chiropractors, we’re not just interested in where a baby may be uncomfortable. We’re interested in how they move, develop and interact with their environment as they grow. 🤍

At home, this is a good technique to gently stimulate mobility. Always follow your baby’s cues and seek professional advice if you have concerns about their movement, comfort, feeding, or development.

A lot of people are nervous before their first adjustment.
That’s why I talk my patients through everything before we do it. No surprises, no rushing, no “just trust me”!!😬😟😳

Every adjustment is individualised to the person in front of me, their body, their history, their comfort levels, and what their nervous system can actually tolerate that day.

We went through Simon’s history and complaints, assessed him, diagnosed him and discussed his treatment plan with him.

Communication matters.
Feeling safe matters.
And understanding what’s happening to your body matters too. ✨

Most people don’t wake up one day in severe pain.
The body usually gives subtle warning signs first. 👀

Headaches.
Jaw tension.
Tight shoulders.
Constant cracking and stretching.
Feeling “wired” but exhausted.

These things are often brushed off as “normal” stress, busy lifestyles or getting older… but they can also be signs your body is compensating and struggling to keep up with the load being placed on it.

Pain is rarely the first thing to show up. It’s often the last. 🚩

One of the biggest parts of my job is helping people understand what their body may have been trying to communicate long before things fully flare up.

Your body adapts quietly before it starts screaming 🤍

No two bodies are the same ✨

Which means no two adjustments should be either.

Every treatment is individualised based on your body, your nervous system, your movement patterns and what you actually need on the day 🤍

Not every patient gets adjusted the same.
Not every area needs force.
And not every body responds the same way.

We care for you, not your symptoms!

We call this “toes to nose” 👶✨
But I am looking at something much deeper.

So what am I doing here?

This is a gentle way of bringing baby into flexion to take pressure off the lower spine and pelvis…
which is often where I see a lot of tension in unsettled babies.

I’m gently bringing baby’s hips and knees toward their chest to support the nervous system and help the body unwind 🤍

This may support:
• Release of tension through the lower spine
• Improved movement through the hips and sacrum
• Gentle compression of the belly to help move trapped wind 💨
• Activation of the “rest and digest” parasympathetic side of the nervous system

Why this matters 👇
The lower spine is closely linked with digestion, bowel movements, and overall regulation.
When there’s tension here, babies can struggle to settle, feel uncomfortable, or become more unsettled after feeds.

This technique is slow, gentle, and led entirely by baby’s response. Nothing is forced.

When the body starts to release, we often see:
• A softer belly
• Less tension through the body
• Easier settling
• And sometimes… a little gas release 💨😉

The tiniest bodies still go through a lot… from birth, positioning, feeding, and adjusting to a whole new world 🌏

Today was all about a check of bubbas spine, hips and nervous system to support comfortable movement and settling ✨

Because even the smallest humans deserve to feel calm, supported and at ease 🫶🏼

You don’t have to tell me what happened to your body. I’ll figure it out🕵🏼

Took a hit to the face at footy… came in for “just the jaw” 👀

But the body and nervous system always tells a bigger story.

Even when you don’t mention it, I’m assessing everything… and in this case we picked up that his head took impact too 🧠
That changes how the jaw, neck, and nervous system all interact.

Some of today’s session included:
✨ Jaw (TMJ) adjustment
✨ Neck (Cervical) adjustment because your neck function and nerves directly influence jaw function
✨ Muscle (pterygoid) release as the muscle inside the jaw holds SO much tension after impact

This is exactly why a thorough assessment matters.
Not just chasing symptoms… but understanding what actually happened to the body.

Because prevention and long-term maintenance isn’t about guessing… it’s about catching what gets missed, even before you feel it 🤍

Your body doesn’t lie… and you can’t keep anything from us 😉
