📋 The Census is more than just a form - it helps tell the story of our community. 💛
✅In small communities like ours, every person counted matters.
Census information helps build a picture of who lives in our communities, how old we are, and what services may be needed now and into the future. This is particularly important for our older residents and regional communities, where access to services can already be limited.
The information collected can help inform planning and funding for things such as aged care, health services, schools, community programs, transport, housing and other essential services.
But completing the Census isn’t easy for everyone.
Some older people may not feel confident completing forms online. Others may have difficulty reading or understanding the questions, may not have internet access, or may simply need someone beside them to help them through it.
❤️ This is where we can all help.
Check in with an older neighbour, family member, friend or someone in your community. Ask if they have received their Census information and whether they need a hand.
Reaching out can look different for everyone - it might be a phone call, popping in for a cuppa, helping someone access the online form, explaining a question, or helping them find the right support to complete it.
Sometimes a simple “Have you managed to do your Census yet?” is all it takes.
🌿 When everyone is counted, our small communities are better represented - and our older residents are not invisible when decisions about future services are made.
