Ayurvedic Consultations in Ravenshoe – Understanding You, Your Constitution & Your Individual Needs
What Really Happens During an Ayurvedic Consultation?
Ayurveda is much more than choosing a herb for a particular symptom. A true Ayurvedic consultation looks at you as a whole person — your individual constitution, digestion, bowel habits, sleep, stress, energy, food choices, lifestyle and the factors that may be contributing to an imbalance.
At Natural Living Co in Ravenshoe, I take a personalised and practical approach to Ayurveda, helping you understand your body and how your food, daily habits and lifestyle may influence your wellbeing.
Understanding Your Dosha
During your consultation, we explore your individual Ayurvedic constitution, known as Prakriti, as well as your current state of balance or imbalance, known as Vikriti.
Ayurveda recognises three fundamental energies, or Doshas:
• Vata – associated with movement, the nervous system and change
• Pitta – associated with digestion, metabolism and transformation
• Kapha – associated with structure, stability and nourishment
Understanding your individual Dosha pattern can provide valuable insight into your natural tendencies and help guide personalised food and lifestyle choices.
A Comprehensive Ayurvedic Assessment
Your consultation involves detailed discussion about your individual health and lifestyle patterns. We may explore:
• Digestion and appetite
• Bowel habits
• Sleep and daily energy
• Stress and emotional wellbeing
• Food choices and eating patterns
• Lifestyle and daily routines
• Your individual Dosha constitution
• Current signs of imbalance
• Your personal goals and concerns
Where appropriate, Ayurvedic observation techniques may also be incorporated into the consultation.
The important thing is that no single observation or symptom is considered in isolation. Ayurveda looks at the complete picture of the individual.
Looking Beyond the Symptoms
One of the beautiful aspects of Ayurveda is its focus on identifying the underlying factors that may be contributing to an imbalance, rather than simply focusing on a symptom.
Two people may experience similar concerns but have very different constitutions, lifestyles, digestion and contributing factors. This is why Ayurvedic care is individualised rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Your Personalised Ayurvedic Plan
Following your consultation, recommendations are tailored to your individual needs and may include:
• Ayurvedic food and dietary guidance
• Dosha-specific food recommendations
• Meal planning and practical food strategies
• Daily routine and lifestyle guidance
• Ayurvedic herbal support where appropriate
• Nutritional coaching
• Breathing, relaxation and mindfulness practices
• Practical strategies to support healthier everyday habits
My approach is to make Ayurveda practical, achievable and relevant to modern Australian life.
Food as Medicine
Food is an important part of my Ayurvedic practice. Rather than simply giving you a list of foods to eat and avoid, I help you understand why certain foods may be more suitable for your individual constitution and current balance.
Together, we can develop realistic dietary strategies that fit your lifestyle and support your Ayurvedic goals.
