This is Amazon's Christmas Ad - 2023. A great ad? yes / no/ maybe? Watch it and let me know what you think... as I think there is a big issue here.

What if I had low or no vision? (The benefit for me was I could watch the ad and hear the music.) With no audio description (AD) option that should share the story of what was being shown on screen, the experience is just elevator music for someone who can't see it! The demographic for Amazon is everyone but this ad is not for everyone.

Surely our biggest global brands should be leading by example with accessibility and inclusion!

Flexible learning provides options that can benefit all students and significantly reduces barriers for students with disabilities to access education.

"In the past, I know it's been argued that we don't have the technology, we're not there yet. But we can't really say that anymore."

Online lessons offer more flexibility and opportunities to present information in different ways. This gives students choices to access education in a way that helps them learn best.

For example, a lecture that has been recorded and provided as a captioned and audio described video, accompanied by a text transcript, has the potential to be seen, heard and interacted with.

Following COVID lockdowns, it's clear flexible study works. So why aren't universities taking a "more proactive approach" to ensure people of all abilities can access higher education?
