Men’s Health Week is a reminder that looking after your health isn’t something to put off. 💙

At our clinic, we encourage men of all ages to make their health a priority — whether it’s booking a general check-up, discussing mental health, managing stress, improving sleep, or staying on top of heart health and preventative screenings.

Small steps now can make a big difference later.

If it’s been a while since your last appointment, this is your sign to check in with your GP. Your health matters — to you, your family, and your future.

📍 Proudly supporting the men in our Gold Coast community this Men’s Health Week.

💚 Infant Mental Health Awareness 8-14th June Week 2026 💚

The first years of life lay the foundation for a child's emotional, social, and cognitive development. During Infant Mental Health Awareness Week, we're highlighting the importance of nurturing relationships and responsive care in supporting babies' wellbeing from the very beginning.

Babies may be small, but their feelings, experiences, and connections matter. Positive interactions such as talking, cuddling, playing, and responding to your baby's needs help build secure attachments and healthy brain development.

As a GP practice, we're here to support not only your baby's health, but also the wellbeing of parents and carers. If you're finding the early months challenging, please remember that support is available and reaching out is a sign of strength.
Together, we can help every baby get the best possible start in life.

Winter Wellness Tips

Winter in South East Queensland might be mild, but it’s still important to take care of your health during the cooler months ❄️

Here are some simple tips to stay feeling your best:

🧥 Layer up in the mornings and evenings – temperatures can change quickly

☀️ Soak up the sunshine – get outside for vitamin D and fresh air

💧 Stay hydrated – we often forget to drink enough water in winter

🥗 Eat nourishing foods – think soups, veggies, and immune-boosting meals

😴 Prioritise sleep – your body needs rest to fight off colds and flu

🧼 Keep up good hygiene – regular handwashing helps prevent illness

💪 Stay active – even light exercise can boost your immunity and mood

Look after yourself and your loved ones this winter – small habits make a big difference 💙

World No To***co Day 31st May 2026

To***co and ni****ne companies deliberately design their products to hook you.

Sugars, flavours, and cooling agents all mask the harshness of ni****ne so you inhale more, and get addicted faster.

But the grip of addiction can be broken. And the benefits are felt almost immediately:

⏱️ In 20 minutes, your heart rate drops

🫁 2–12 weeks, your lung function improves

❤️ 1 year, your risk of heart disease is cut in half

What's holding you back from calling it quits?

Take the bold step, break the addiction.

Today, on World Family Doctor Day 2026, we celebrate the theme: Compassionate Care in a Digital World.

As healthcare continues to evolve through technology and digital innovation, the heart of general practice remains the same — listening, understanding, and caring for our patients.

Artificial intelligence can detect patterns, generate documentation and optimise workflows. But it cannot recognise hesitation. It cannot interpret silence. It cannot perceive fear behind polite reassurance.

In many of our cultures, meaning is conveyed indirectly, through tone, through pauses, and through relationship built over years. No algorithm captures that.

At Reedy Creek Medical Centre, we are proud to combine modern healthcare with compassionate, patient-centred care to support our community through every stage of life.

Thank you to all family doctors, nurses, reception staff, and healthcare teams who continue to make a meaningful difference every day.

Today we celebrate International Nurses Day 💙

At our clinic, our nurses are at the heart of everything we do. They are the calm in busy moments, the reassuring voice for our patients, and the skilled hands that help deliver safe, compassionate care every single day.

From triage to treatment, health education to emotional support, their impact goes far beyond what’s seen in a consultation room. We’re incredibly grateful for their dedication, professionalism, and kindness.

To our amazing nursing team — thank you for the difference you make in the lives of our patients and our community. We appreciate you today and every day.

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate the strength, care, and dedication that mothers bring into the world every single day 💐

From first check-ups to lifelong care, it’s our privilege to support mums and their families through every stage of life. Whether you’re a new mum, a mum-to-be, a grandmother, or someone who plays a motherly role — today is for you.

A gentle reminder to all mums: your health matters too. Taking time to look after yourself is one of the most important things you can do for those you love.

Wishing you a day filled with appreciation, love, and a little well-deserved rest. From all of us at Reedy Creek Medical Centre, Happy Mother’s Day 💖

Today is World Asthma Day. The National Asthma Council Australia (NAC) will be joining the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) theme of ‘Access to anti-inflammatory inhalers for everyone with asthma – still an urgent need’ to continue to promote the key messages of the newly updated Australian Asthma Handbook.

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory lung condition. It is one of the most common chronic non-communicable diseases that affects over 260 million people and is responsible for over 450,000 deaths each year worldwide. Most of these deaths are preventable. In Australia asthma affects one in 9 or 2.8 million people.

The revised NAC Australian Asthma Handbook now recommends anti-inflammatory reliever (AIR) only therapy and maintenance-and-reliever therapy (MART) for adults and adolescents (aged over 12). Inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) are now indicated for all adults and adolescents with asthma.

World Asthma Day is a good reminder for the 2.8 million Australians with asthma to get their annual flu vaccination.

The NAC recommends that people with asthma get a flu shot to provide the best possible protection before the peak winter season from June to September.

It is also a good time to be proactive and schedule an asthma check-up at the doctor to review your asthma action plan.

❤️ Heart Week (4–10 May) ❤️

This Heart Week, take a moment to check in with your heart.

According to the Heart Foundation, Heart Week is all about starting conversations and taking simple, positive steps to reduce your risk of heart disease.

Knowing your risk is key. That’s why Australians—especially those aged 45+ (or earlier for some groups)—are encouraged to book a Heart Health Check with their GP.

Small actions can make a big difference:
❤️ Move more and stay active
🥗 Eat for a healthy heart
🩺 Know your blood pressure and cholesterol
🚭 Reduce risk factors where you can

Your heart health matters—not just this week, but every day. Start the conversation, take action, and encourage someone you care about to do the same. Book in now for your Healthy Heart Check.
