A fantastic day out for Ace and Damien at last week's Loxton Aged Care Expo! đź‘‹

It was a great opportunity to be part of such a great community event, catch up with familiar faces, meet new people, share more about what we do, and spread the word about our new clinic space at 50 East Terrace, Loxton.

We loved chatting with attendees about the importance of maintaining strength, balance and mobility as we age, and providing free balance and strength checks throughout the day.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat, took part in a check, or simply came over to say hello. đź’™

Assistive technology can make everyday tasks safer, easier and more independent.
At River Allied Health, our Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists assess, trial and prescribe equipment based on each person’s needs, goals and environment.

This may include equipment to support:
âś… Mobility and transfers
âś… Personal care and everyday activities
âś… positioning and comfort
âś… Safety and independence at home or in the community

Where appropriate, we can also assist with equipment trials, recommendations and supporting documentation for NDIS or other funding pathways.

👉To discuss whether assistive technology may be appropriate for you or your client, contact River Allied Health on (08) 8586 5126.

Did you know we provide hydrotherapy? đź’¦

River Allied Health provides hydrotherapy at the Alan Coulter Recreation Centre in Renmark on Monday and Friday afternoons, supporting people of all ages with rehabilitation, mobility, pain management, strength and function in a supportive, low-impact environment.

Our hydrotherapy sessions include:
âś… 1:1 sessions with an allied health practitioner or Allied Health Assistant
âś… Individualised exercise programs within small group sessions, with Exercise Physiologist support and guidance
âś… Access to a heated pool, with entry via steps, chair hoist or sling lifter where required
✅ Guided rehabilitation and exercise tailored to each person’s goals and needs

Hydrotherapy may be useful following injury or surgery, for people managing chronic or persistent conditions, or for those who find land-based exercise difficult due to pain, weakness or reduced mobility.

It can also form part of a broader allied health treatment program, including progression between water-based and land-based rehabilitation where appropriate.

Bookings are essential.
👉Contact River Allied Health on (08) 8586 5126 to discuss whether hydrotherapy may be suitable for you or your client.

🏠 Complex Home Modification Assessments

When a person’s home no longer meets their mobility, access or support needs, the right modifications can make a significant difference to safety, independence and everyday function.

At River Allied Health, Complex Home Modification Assessments are completed by our experienced Occupational Therapist, who assesses the person within their home environment and considers how the home can better support their current and future needs.

Recommendations may include changes to bathrooms, entrances, access-ways, internal layouts and other areas of the home, and can also help support funding applications and care planning where required.

These assessments may be appropriate when a person is having difficulty accessing, moving around or completing everyday activities safely within their home.

👉To book a consultation with one of our OTs and discuss whether a Complex Home Modification Assessment may be appropriate for you or your client, contact River Allied Health on (08) 8586 5126.

What is a Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA)?

A Functional Capacity Assessment looks at how a person manages everyday activities at home, at work and in the community, including their physical, cognitive and practical function.

At River Allied Health, FCAs are completed by our experienced Senior Occupational Therapist and can help to:
âś… Identify strengths, challenges and support needs
âś… Guide therapy and care planning
âś… Support NDIS and other funding applications or reviews
âś… Inform recommendations for equipment, assistive technology, home modifications and support needs
âś… Assist with return-to-work and broader functional planning.

An FCA may be particularly helpful when there has been a change in function, when support needs are unclear, or when detailed evidence is needed to guide future services and supports.

👉To discuss whether an FCA may be appropriate for you or your client, contact River Allied Health on (08) 8586 5126.

Did you know? We offer Medicare-funded Exercise Physiology group sessions for people living with Type 2 Diabetes.

Our specialised sessions combine safe, supervised exercise and education to support better long-term health in a fun and supportive environment.

Eligible patients may receive significant Medicare rebates for 1 initial EP assessment and up to 8 group sessions each calendar year — separate from the usual 5 allied health visits under a chronic condition management plan.

If this sounds like something that could benefit you, speak with your GP about including an Exercise Physiology referral in your management plan.

Get in touch with us today to find out more, or make a booking with one of our amazing Exercise Physiologists.

✨Meet Murphy Proud – Allied Health Assistant ✨

Say hello to Murphy, who has been one of our amazing Allied Health Assistants since 2023!

Originally from Mount Gambier, “Murph” brings a unique background to the team, starting out as a qualified Veterinary Nurse before making the move into human healthcare — a journey we’re so proud to be part of.

Murph is passionate about helping people reach their goals and loves being part of a team dedicated to making a real difference in the community.

Now in her second year of studying Physiotherapy at Flinders Uni in Renmark, we know Murph’s energy, passion, and welcoming nature will make her an amazing Physio.

Outside of work and study, you’ll find her in her “happy place” on the river, chasing new adventures off the beaten track, or enjoying a walk with her dog, Otis.

We’re so lucky to have you on the team, Murph!
