I previously studied a bachelor of commerce which took me on the path to working at a professional sporting club in the accounts department in 2011.

There I started to take an interest in what went into physically preparing athletes to get back out on the field post injury, focussing on the recovery programs and injury rehab.

My mind was set and I wanted a career change, so I enrolled to study massage in 2012.

I gained further experience working with different professional sporting codes and multiple clinics, as a remedial massage therapist, before continuing to study Myotherapy.

Shortly after graduating as a Myotherapist I opened my own clinic, where I have been passionate about providing my patients physical treatment with the aim of achieving their musculoskeletal goals.

Along side my current colleagues we strive to help make the best version of you, by incorporating functional strength training with Myotherapy.

Myofascial Dry Needling: what is it? Why do we use it?
When the needle is inserted into the tissue of the body it creates small incisions that sends signals to the brain which then reacts like you are hurt, sending new blood to the area carrying nutrients and repair agents to help bring that tissue back to normal.
Normal: when we say back to normal we mean back to the healthier state of the tissue. ie if your muscle is tight the needle will help loosen it, if you have torn a muscle it will help repair it, if you are swollen it will help reduce the swelling.
Depending on the technique and placement of the needle will determine how the needle helps the tissue. So you can now see how it can be helpful to speed up healing or help reduce tension in the body.
Myotherapist’s are the most skilled and trained therapists to administer this kind of treatment.

This is a great exercise to strengthen and activate your glutes and core. I recommend adding this into your morning routine to ensure your glutes are activated at the start of your day. This will help take the pressure of your lower back throughout the day. It can also be added into any fitness programs as a warm up or basic strengthening exercise.
