I’m excited to be presenting on “Melatonin and the Architecture of Consciousness: Light, Mitochondria, and the Rhythms of Awareness” at The Science of Consciousness Conference this week!
I’ve been fascinated by melatonin for years, particularly as I’ve explored the intersection of science and spirituality.
Most people think of melatonin as a sleep hormone, but I see it as something much more expansive: a biological messenger connecting light, darkness, mitochondrial function, and our changing states of awareness.
In my presentation, I’ll be exploring the emerging science of melatonin and consciousness, from circadian rhythms and dream states to biophotons, neuronal microtubules, and the fascinating possibilities of quantum biology.
What intrigues me most is that science is giving us new ways to appreciate something ancient wisdom traditions have long recognized: darkness has its own intelligence, rhythm, and purpose. We spend so much time seeking the light. But what might the darkness have to teach us?
