π Lipoedema Awareness Month
2026 π
June is Lipoedema Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, share knowledge, and support the many people living with this often misunderstood condition.
This year's theme, "Recognise, Understand, Support", encourages greater awareness of the signs and symptoms of lipoedema, improved understanding of the daily challenges it can bring, and stronger support for those affected.
Lipoedema is a chronic condition that primarily affects women and is characterised by the abnormal accumulation of fat tissue, most commonly in the legs, hips, buttocks, and sometimes the arms. It can cause pain, tenderness, easy bruising, swelling, heaviness, and can significantly impact quality of life. Unfortunately, many people live with symptoms for years before receiving an accurate diagnosis.
At Western Lymphatics, we are privileged to support many clients living with lipoedema. We understand that every person's journey is unique and that managing lipoedema often requires a combination of education, self-management strategies, compression therapy, exercise, manual lymphatic drainage, and ongoing support.
This month, we would like to acknowledge the strength, resilience, and determination of all those living with lipoedema. Thank you for trusting us to be part of your healthcare journey. Your stories continue to inspire us every day. π
If you have been experiencing symptoms of lipoedema or would like to learn more about treatment and management options, our team is here to help.
