A TRIBUTE TO MY BEAUTIFUL BOY SIR DOUGLAS

With the heaviest of hearts, I want to let everyone know that on Monday, I will be helping my beautiful boy, Sir Douglas, cross the Rainbow Bridge. For 12 and a half years, Sir Douglas has been so much more than a dog. He's been my shadow, my best friend, my comfort, my helping hand with teaching children to swim, my protector, my family, my soul dog. Through every part of my recent lows and every other highs, he never left my side, he just knew!. Yesterday, my friend picked us up to take Sir Douglas and me to his/mine happy place the beach. Watching him struggle to walk, seeing his back legs weaken, and watching him lose interest in the ball he once chased with such joy, made me realise what my heart already knew. Cancer has taken so much from him last year, I was told by the vet, he could have chemo or I could take him home to give him the best life. I chose the latter. 16 months he gave me, pushing through. Sir Douglas wasn't just my dog. In many ways, he belonged to our whole Roleystone community. There isn't even a fence around my home, yet he always knew exactly where home was. He even took himself for our usual walk a few days ago WITHOUT ME, lol because he knew I'd had an operation and was struggling. He'd walked around the block and was heading home, when the postie spotted him limping and took him to the local vets (thank you)
He'd happily sit outside on his bed, waiting for me to come home. Sometimes, he'd wander up the street just to make sure everything was as it should be, before returning to his favorite spot. He loved coming everywhere with me. If I ducked into the shops, he'd sit proudly on his bed, in the open boot of my car, watching the world go by. People knew my car, they knew Duggie, and they'd stop to give him a pat or a cuddle. Later I'd often get messages saying, "I saw Duggie today, so I stopped to say hello." Those little messages always made me smile because he brought so much happiness to so many people.
He loved visiting the Espresso Cafe, not for the coffee, of course, but for all the pats, cuddles and treats from everyone who adored him.
The beach is where he truly came alive. We'd swim together, search for dolphins together, and I'd throw his ball so far out to sea. People would laugh and say, "He's never going to get that." But he always did, again and again, proudly bringing it back to me. Afterwards, he'd be so exhausted I'd have to lift him into the car. We'd stop on the way home at Cockburn central where he'd lie in the sun drying off completely content.
He had his funny habits too. I'd give him a fresh bone and he'd disappear with it. Weeks later it would magically reappear on his bed outside ewwww! Old, smelly, disgusting. But to Duggie, it was still the greatest treasure on earth.
He loved his dog friends. First Macey, my daughters boxer, he loved pulling at her neck, Rollo, my sons half dog half lion and Alfie,my sons Shepard, shadow my other sons ridgeback cross, all were wonderful companions when they were young, although once Rollo and Alfie grew into giant boys, he wisely decided they were a little too big for an older gentleman. His very best friend was H**e, my mum's beautiful greyhound. They shared beach days, cafe visits, holidays, Christmases, and countless adventures, he had a second home to stay when I went away to Queensland. When H**e crossed the Rainbow Bridge two weeks ago, Duggie searched for her everywhere. I truly believe he missed her deeply. Sniffing the car before he got in, wondering around mums house searching for her to no avail, yes she'd gone and his heart broke too.
As much as every part of me wants more cuddles, more walks, and more days with him, loving him means putting his needs before my own. I know my boy. I know he's tired, and I know he's hurting. I know he is hanging in there just to be by my side as I struggle through this chapter of my life. I couldn't ask him to keep suffering just so I don't have to say goodbye. This morning, I'm taking Sir Douglas down to the Roleystone Cafe for one last coffee with our community. If you happen to see us, please come and give Duggie one last pat, I know you all love him.

Thank you, Sir Douglas, for every adventure, every cuddle, every swim, every laugh, every muddy paw print, newly formed rugs with his hair, lol and every moment of unconditional love. Dogs are so amazing, they are your companion, best mate, entertainer, and that not so nice aroma...lol
Duggie changed my life forever, and there will never be another dog like him. Run free, my beautiful boy. Chase every ball. Swim in every ocean. Find H**e,Rollo, macey, Alfie and wait for me. Until we meet again, forever my Sir Douglas, forever my soul dog. Xx
Please leave a message for him.

An update of my recover. The past few weeks have been some of the hardest I've faced. Before my shoulder surgery, I already had severe nerve pain, and even after the operation, that nerve pain has continued. There have been nights with very little or no sleep, medications that didn't help, and days where just getting through the pain has taken every bit of strength I have. This experience has given me a whole new understanding of people who live with chronic pain, and those who spend so much of their time alone. Pain and loneliness can both be incredibly difficult, and my heart goes out to anyone walking that path. (I have Sir Douglas) One thing I've realised is that even when life limits what we can do, it doesn't stop us from making a difference. While doing my water rehabilitation, I ended up helping two little children with their swimming and later helped another gentleman improve his stroke. Those small moments reminded me that we can still leave a positive footprint wherever we are.Thank you to the beautiful people who have checked in on me, brought me meals, taken me out for a coffee, sent messages. Those acts of kindness, no matter how small, mean more than you probably realise. This journey has reminded me that our greatest gift isn't what we own or achieve, it's how we care for one another. This is why we are here. That 4 letter word 'love' which comes in many different formats. A kind word, a helping hand, or simply showing up can change someone's day. Here's hoping brighter days are ahead, for all of us. kindness ❤️

Only using one hand (my left one at that!) and being on strong pain medication has been very confronting. It's given me a small insight into how overwhelming it must feel for people living with drug dependence. The medication helps, but it also changes how I feel and think.
Living independently for the past five years has had its challenges, but living alone with a disability is teaching me even more. The silence in the house has disappeared, replaced by the constant ringing and strange frequency noise from the medication.
Looking in the mirror and seeing myself so vulnerable, combined with the relentless pain, has been quite confronting and, at times, depressing.
In hospital, I was surrounded by the most beautiful, caring staff. Their kindness, support and simple human presence were incredibly comforting and nourishing. Coming home has made me realise just how much that meant.
I'm so grateful Sir Douglas is still hanging in there. He knows something isn't right. He follows me to the shower and comes into my bedroom every morning to check that I'm still here. His quiet loyalty brings me so much comfort.
This experience has changed my perspective. It has reminded me that life's greatest treasures aren't material possessions, they're human connection, kindness, a gentle touch, a hug, a conversation, and simply knowing someone is there.
Recovery isn't just about healing the body. It's also about healing the heart.

Hospital Update. Well... I thought I'd be in and out, but apparently I accidentally booked the four-night deluxe package. The operation was a success! But they found more damage than expected. They've also found nerve issues around my shoulder, so once I'm healed from this surgery, I'll be going back to have those nerves cauterised to help with the pain. Rehab has officially started and I'll be following it exactly as instructed. One step at a time, but definitely on the road to recovery. Hospital life has had its funny moments. After my third e***a, I was convinced I was about to launch into orbit. Sadly, I never made it to the moon. Then, there was the catheter. The nurse said she'd go slowly and I asked, 'why?' Just making sure you've got the right hole.We both laughed. The nurses and hospital staff have been absolutely amazing. We've had a lot of laughs which made the whole experience easier. To all my beautiful clients, thank you for your patience, love, and support. I'll be taking the time I need to look after myself properly, focus on my rehabilitation, and make sure I heal well before returning to doing what I love. Your understanding means the world to me. Thank you to everyone who has sent messages, prayers, and well wishes. I truly appreciate every single one of you. Now I'm just waiting for my discharge papers. Hopefully without extending my luxury holiday here any longer.
Much love Ms Lu Lu ❤️

Dear valued clients,

I wanted to inform you that I will be undergoing shoulder surgery on July 16th to address a significant 17mm tear in my rotator cuff, along with a few other smaller tears in that shoulder. As a result, I will be out of action for a period of time to focus on my recovery and ensure I can return at my best. I appreciate your understanding and patience during this time. Once I’m healed, I look forward to being able to continue supporting you all.

Thank you so much, and I’ll keep you updated.
Ms Lu Lu xx

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a health update with my friends and clients so you can better understand what I've been dealing with over the past several months.

Following my accident, I've been living with ongoing pain throughout much of the right side of my body, particularly my shoulder, but also affecting my hip, knees and feet. Like many self-employed people, I tried to push through and continue working, hoping things would improve with time. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, continuing to work as a massage therapist only aggravated my injuries and increased my pain.
For the past eight weeks, I have been unable to work, and recent MRI results have confirmed significant damage to my shoulder. The pain has become severe and is now affecting every aspect of my daily life, including my sleep, which has been greatly disrupted for many weeks. Those who know me well know that I rarely complain and have always tried to remain positive, but the reality is that I am now struggling with pain on a daily basis.
I am currently awaiting specialist appointments and further treatment planning, and there is a possibility that major shoulder surgery, potentially including shoulder reconstruction, may be required.

This has been an incredibly difficult and emotional time, both physically and financially. If surgery does go ahead, my recovery is likely to be lengthy, and any support, assistance, meals, transport, check-ins, or practical help during that time would be sincerely appreciated.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out, checked on me, supported me, and shown understanding during this journey. Your kindness means more than you know. I will continue to keep everyone updated as I learn more.

With love and gratitude,
Ms Lu Lu 💖

I need you to know that the accident I had months ago has been more serious than I admitted. As a healer, I tried to manage and get on with life; but I had to stop work a couple of months ago due to a torn meniscus, hip damage, and a torn shoulder. The pain and sleep deprivation have been relentless, and no medication is easing it. The pool helps for a short time, but I need professional care now. I’m not asking for sympathy, just understanding as I focus on recovery. Thank you so much for your love and support.

This weekend, the storm was more than just a storm for some of us, it was a new beginning. The universe was speaking, telling us that life is about to change. For those born in 1966, the Year of the Fire Horse, this is a call. A line has been drawn in the sand, and now we must step over it into the next chapter. Whether it’s for your health, your mental well-being, your finances, or your social life, this storm arrived for a reason. For those of us on a spiritual path, it was a wake-up call. Mother Nature has her way of dealing with matters, and no person on this earth can fight that,we must work with her. For me, it was a reckoning, emotionally and physically. I now know I must slow down and put myself first. Yes, there was a mess in my backyard, and I’m grateful no trees fell on my home. But as I clear the debris, I realise I need to clear things from my life, too. If you feel the storm’s call, listen, this is your chance to step into a new beginning, alongside Mother Nature.
