Today is World MS Day.

No two people experience Multiple Sclerosis in the same way, but one thing we hear often is the importance of staying connected to the things that make you, you.

Whether that's maintaining independence, keeping active, spending time with family, or participating in hobbies and interests, it's often the everyday things that matter most.

“MS has changed a lot in my life, but I don’t want it to define who I am. For me, it’s about staying active, maintaining my independence, and continuing to do the things that matter to me. It is challenging, but I am committed.”

“After having to leave my job due to MS, exercise programs and hydrotherapy have helped me maintain my independence, mobility, and wellbeing. They’ve also introduced me to new friendships and a supportive community.”

Today, we recognise the experiences of everyone living with MS and the support networks around them.

Today marks the start of National Reconciliation Week, and across Royal Rehab Group we’ll be taking some time to pause, reflect, and learn.

This year’s theme, “All In”, is an important reminder that reconciliation isn't something that happens overnight. It’s about showing up, listening, and thinking about the part we each play moving forward.

Throughout the week, our teams across the Group will be coming together in different ways to recognise and learn more about the histories, cultures, and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

And, more importantly, to keep listening and learning beyond this week too.

Today we remember.

On Anzac Day, we honour those who served with courage and integrity, and we reflect on the cost of war, the lives lost, the families changed, and the histories that continue to shape us.

Lest we forget.

Today is World Parkinson’s Day.

At Royal Rehab LifeWorks, we’re thinking of everyone living with Parkinson’s, and the families and friends who support them.

We see the determination it takes to keep adapting and doing the things that matter, even as life changes.

Parkinson’s affects everyone differently, but the right support at the right time can make a real difference.

We’re proud to walk alongside people through rehabilitation and care, helping them stay connected to their goals, independence and life.

To the Parkinson’s community, we see you.

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, and for us, it’s personal.

We see every day what it really looks like to live with Parkinson’s. The small wins that mean everything. The determination it takes to keep going, even when things change.

Parkinson’s can affect movement and daily life, but it never defines the person. The people we work with are strong, capable, and so much more than a diagnosis.

To our patients and clients, we’re with you. Not just for the big milestones, but for the everyday moments that matter.

And to the families walking alongside you, your support, patience, and love make all the difference.

Swallowing is something most of us don’t think twice about, until it’s not easy.

For many people living with neurological conditions, injury or illness, swallowing can become challenging, stressful, and even unsafe. It can impact nutrition, hydration and the simple enjoyment of eating and drinking with others.

On Swallowing Awareness Day, we’re highlighting the importance of recognising swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) and getting the right support early.

Our speech pathology team is here to help, with practical strategies, personalised therapy, and compassionate care to make eating and drinking safer, easier and more enjoyable.

If you or someone you care for is having trouble swallowing, you’re not alone. Reach out, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Move to the rhythm. Find your flow.

Our Neuro Dance Therapy classes are for people living with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, stroke, brain injury, or dementia. They are about more than exercise. They are about moving in ways that feel good, safe, and possible.

With music leading the way and gentle guidance throughout, each class supports balance, coordination, and confidence. While strong research highlights the positive impact of dance on mobility and motor function, what truly matters is how it feels in the room - focused, supportive, and enjoyable.

You can participate seated or standing, and everything is adapted to suit you.

No dance experience needed, just a willingness to give it a go.

Meet 27-year-old Adeel. He’s living with Motor Neurone Disease and, over the past four months, has taken up crocheting with support from his Recreational Therapist, Taleah, who helped create a custom setup that works for him.

As a kid, Adeel used to knit with his aunty, so crocheting feels like a natural continuation of something he’s always enjoyed. It helps him work on his dexterity, and it’s also something he genuinely loves doing. With a few thoughtful adjustments, he’s continued to build his skills and create new pieces, and he’s pretty proud of what he’s making. We love them too Adeel 😊
