ππ¨ FUN FACT FRIDAY! π¨π
The humble diaphragm, the primary muscle for respiration that drives about 75% of the effort to breathe. When you inhale, the diaphragm contracts and flattens, creating negative pressure that pulls air into the lungs, relaxes on exhalation pushing air out. It works continuously, taking about 20,000 breaths a day!
The diaphragm has an important role not only to breathe but also in:
π¨ Posture are core stability
π¨ Vascular circulation and lymphatic drainage
π¨ Bowel function and Digestion
π¨ Stress Management
The diaphragm is the multi-talented quiet achiever. It has to be one of my favourite muscles in the body to address and manipulate, and see results in function and symptom relief.
Breathe innnnn π¨π¨π¨, and breathe oooouutttπ¨π¨π¨
Hope you enjoyed this Funfact Friday!
