After years of holding space, Iāve realised somethingā¦
Underneath the overwhelm, the stress, the armour, the pushing through and holding it all togetherā¦
We just want to feel safe enough to let go
I see it in the spaces I hold all the time
Sometimes itās simply a hand on someoneās shoulder
A hand gently holding their cheek
Someone sitting beside them while the tears finally come
And suddenly, something their body may have been holding onto for years begins to soften
Because weāre so used to being the strong one
Keeping it together
Saying āIām fineā
Trying to process everything on our own
And in those tender moments when the emotion does come, so often the stories come with itā¦
Iām too much
I shouldnāt need this
Iām taking up too much space
I need to pull myself together
I shouldnāt crave being held
So we swallow it down, wipe the tears away and put the armour back on
Because vulnerability can feel terrifying when your body has learnt that itās safer to need nothing from anyone
But when youāre met in a space where nothing needs to be fixed
Where your emotions arenāt too much
Where you donāt need to perform, explain or make yourself smallerā¦
Your body gets to unravel
To exhale
To be seen
To be heard
To be held š¤
There is something deeply healing about being allowed to take up space in your tenderness and still be met with safety
Not someone trying to fix you
Just someone reminding your body that itās safe enough to finally let go š¤
