🌿 Every single baby has a birth story 🌿
Even the most natural of births is an incredible journey for our babies.
Yet so often, we only look at birth through the mother’s lens. What about our babies?
Whether it’s ventouse, forceps, induction, or medical interventions, every experience leaves an imprint — in the body, the fascia, the nervous system and the psyche.
People often say, “Babies won’t remember anyway.”
But they do.
Not in words, but in their bodies. Their implicit memory is held somatically, and babies express and heal these early experiences through their movement and crying, in our loving presence.
In Aware Parenting, we understand that babies cry not only to have immediate needs met (feeding, comfort, changing) — they also cry to release emotions and tell their stories.
In CranioSacral Therapy, this is known as SomatoEmotional release — emotions held in the body finding their way to expression and integration.
Karlton Terry from calls this a “memory cry.” When our babies are expressing a memory. When we listen deeply, babies tell us their stories.
This isn’t to scare parents if your child had a difficult birth. There is good news?
✨ These patterns are changeable and healable.
✨ Our babies — and older children too — are constantly showing us how to help them integrate their early experiences.
If you’d like to understand how to support your baby in healing their birth imprints, I have a course coming soon on Birth Imprints & Healing from Birth Trauma.
And if you have an older child — it’s never too late.
My 21 Days of Play course explores how children use play to heal from their early experiences.
I’m running a live round at the moment and you can still join — link’s in my bio.
