This week’s support worker shout-out goes to Lulya.⭐️

Lulya has shown such lovely consistency in her role, and that kind of steady support really matters.

She has built great rapport with participants and supported them in working towards personal care goals with patience, respect, and care. 💅

We’re so grateful to have Lulya as part of the GDS team. Thank you for the warmth and consistency you bring to your work.

Some things matter because they feel like you.

For Mark that looks like being outside.
Working with his hands.
Getting stuck into a project.
And sometimes, feeding a very cute cow.

Good support should make room for those things.

Not by taking over.
Not by turning everyday life into a program.
But by supporting the person in a way that is respectful, practical, and centred around who they are.

That’s something we care deeply about at Great Disability Support.

Reaching out to a new provider can feel like a lot, especially if you’ve had difficult experiences before.

A first meeting should not feel rushed or pressured. It should feel like a chance to ask questions, talk things through, and see whether the support feels right for your situation.

At Great Disability Support, we want those first conversations to feel respectful, honest, and easy to navigate.

If you’d like to start with a calm conversation, we’re always happy to talk things through.

A couple of the faces behind Great Disability Support.

We talk a lot about familiar faces, clear communication, and consistency because those things matter in real life.

Support feels different when the people around you feel genuine, steady, and easy to trust.

🌟Team Leader mode🌟

Behind the scenes, it can be rosters, messages, check-ins, and last-minute changes all at once.

The goal stays the same: keep support steady, communicate clearly, and make sure families aren’t left chasing updates.

Ilijah is one of those support workers who takes initiative and follows through.
He’s consistent, calm, and cares deeply about the people he supports.
Ilijah notices what needs doing, gets on with it, and keeps the shift moving without anyone having to chase or re-explain.

We hear this from families and nominees all the time.

It’s not the big things that wear you down first.
It’s the constant re-explaining. The new faces. The chasing.

Consistency changes the whole week.

Routines settle. Trust builds. Progress starts to feel normal.
If this hit home, you’re not alone.

If you’d rather keep it private, send us a message and tell us what “consistent support” would look like for you right now.

🤧Cover your cough/sneeze - use a tissue to protect those around you.
🫶Wash hands often – one of the easiest ways to stop winter bugs spreading.
☕️Warm drinks + hydration – tea, soup, and water all help your body stay hydrated and feel its best.
🩷Check in on loved ones – a quick call or message can make all the difference.
☀️Fresh air + sunshine – even a short walk can boost mood and wellbeing.
☎️Stay connected – winter can feel isolating, so keep in touch with friends.

Jordie is one of those support workers who makes things feel steady.

He’s reliable, easy-going, and genuinely committed to the people he supports. He’s also the person who’ll step in when extra support is needed, because he knows consistency matters.
