When I make minestrone I vary the vegetables I use depending on what I can get in the market that day. I love minestrone because it's a one-pot meal that's simple and nourishing and it can be enjoyed for a few days or until the pot is empty. I've used water not vegetable stock to make my soup as I f...

When people hear “blood sugar issues,” they often think of diabetes.

But long before that, blood sugar dysregulation can quietly affect how you feel every single day.

Some common signs I see in clinic include:

🍬energy crashes in the afternoon
🍬waking between 2–4am
🍬anxiety or shakiness when hungry
🍬strong sugar or carb cravings
🍬irritability when meals are delayed
🍬headaches
🍬brain fog
🍬stubborn weight gain
🍬fatigue after eating
🍬hormonal symptoms and PMS
🍬feeling “tired but wired”

And often… people don’t realise blood sugar is involved at all.

I’m seeing more and more clients with insulin levels that are already too high even while glucose still looks “normal” on standard testing.

Your body works very hard to keep blood sugar in range, so problems can be brewing long before diabetes ever appears.

The good news is that small changes can make a big difference:

🍏prioritising protein at breakfast
🍏eating regular balanced meals
🍏reducing constant snacking
🍏improving sleep
🍏managing stress
🍏supporting metabolic health early

Blood sugar regulation affects energy, mood, hormones, inflammation, weight and long-term health far more than most people realise.

A Celebration Day for Girls May is done!

Yesterday a lively and confident bunch of girls learnt all about puberty and womanhood. In the morning they had so much fun, a couple of them said "This is so much fun, can we come back next week?".

In the afternoon the mums shared some lovely personal stories, there was some sweet mother-daughter bonding and learning about how other cultures celebrate puberty and becoming a woman.

The next day in August is filling up. Here for more info: https://nicoletricarico.com/workshops/a-celebration-day-for-girls/

Ratatouille is a staple in my home, I vary the ingredients ever so slightly based on what's in season and what tastes good from my greengrocer. A must is always tomato and zucchini as they mingle perfectly when simmering. Tomatoes are a wonderful source of vitamin B6, C, K, beta-carotene, potassium....

Do you have a 9-12-year-old daughter?

Imagine if your daughter didn’t feel awkward or afraid about growing up..

But instead, felt supported, celebrated, and quietly proud of who she’s becoming.

That’s what A Celebration Day for Girls is all about.

It’s not s*x ed. It's about her body and her experience of growing into a woman.
It’s gentle, fun, practical and confidence-building.

It’s a meaningful and empowering experience shared with other girls and their mums.

A day to connect, laugh, learn, and gently welcome her into this next chapter.

We’ll talk about bodies and periods in a way that’s honest, practical, and free of shame.

We'll share women's stories and listen to a variety of experiences.

We’ll create space for what it really means to grow up, and how to feel good about it.

This is a milestone.

And one she doesn’t have to face with confusion or silence.

Come be part of a day your daughter will carry with her for life,
A memory of being seen, supported, and truly celebrated.

The May 2026 A Celebration Day for Girls is full. The August course is now open for bookings, but is filling up.

If you have a 9-12 year old daughter, this is for you.

One of the most common things I hear from women is:

“I was told everything is normal.”

Yet they still feel exhausted, anxious, foggy, flat, inflamed, overwhelmed or unlike themselves.

Many women spend years questioning themselves before they finally seek deeper support.

They’re told:

it’s stress
it’s just your age
it’s normal after kids
it’s perimenopause
your bloods are fine

And while sometimes those things are part of the picture… often there’s more going on underneath.

I frequently see patterns in pathology and health histories that help explain why someone feels the way they do:

🍏nutrient depletion
🍏blood sugar dysregulation
🍏inflammation
🍏nervous system overload
🍏digestive dysfunction
🍏hormonal shifts
🍏chronic stress patterns

Natural medicine often attracts people who want a more personalised and preventative approach, not because they’re imagining symptoms, but because they want to understand them more fully.

Your body is usually communicating something long before it reaches crisis point.

You deserve to feel heard, supported and understood, not dismissed.

One of the biggest things I see in clinic is people stuck in the missing middle.

They’re told:
“Everything looks normal.”

But they still feel:

✨exhausted
✨foggy
✨anxious
✨inflamed
✨hormonally off
✨flat
✨unwell in ways they can’t fully explain

Often their blood tests are technically within range…

…but when you look closer, patterns start appearing.

⭐Iron that’s “normal” but far from optimal.
⭐Insulin already too high while glucose still looks okay.
⭐B12 levels that help explain fatigue and brain fog.
⭐Signs of inflammation, stress, depletion or poor metabolic health long before disease is diagnosed.

This is the space where preventative and functional approaches can be so valuable.

Not because something is “wrong” with you.
But because your body is often whispering long before it starts screaming.

I believe healthcare should not just be about waiting until things become serious enough to diagnose.

It should also be about understanding patterns early, supporting the body properly, and helping people feel genuinely well, not just “not sick.”

Perhaps the secret to the deliciousness is that I do always have pumpkin in the soup and allow
