September really does have a lot happening! 🌼

Spring is arriving, sporting seasons are changing over, school holidays are on the horizon and our Year 12 students are getting closer to exams.

It’s also Pain Awareness Month, with Women’s Health Week from 7–11 September.

There are plenty of different health, movement and wellbeing conversations wrapped up in all of that — and I’m looking forward to sharing a little more about some of them throughout the month.

Bring on September and the start of spring! ☀️

As the days get warmer, it’s often a time when we naturally start doing a little more — walking, gardening, exercising - summer sports are even on their way.

If you’re increasing your activity, give your body a little time to come along for the ride. You don’t need to do everything at once. Build gradually, allow time for recovery, and pay attention to how your body is responding.

Consistency usually matters more than one big session.

And if aches or pains are making it difficult to get moving comfortably, an osteopathic assessment may help you better understand what’s going on and how to approach your activity.

"Why do Osteopaths ask so many questions?"

It's something we hear quite often.

The conversation at the beginning of your appointment isn't just about where something hurts. We also want to understand how your symptoms began, what makes them better or worse, your general health, your work, hobbies and what you're hoping to achieve.

These pieces help us build a clearer understanding of your situation and guide your Osteopathic assessment.

Every person is different, so every consultation begins by listening.

The last two weeks of winter are here - time for a quick winter check-in.

Have you:
✓ Been moving regularly?
✓ Been getting outside when you can?
✓ Been drinking enough water?

Sometimes it's the simple habits that are easiest to overlook.

A few small daily choices can help support your overall wellbeing throughout these last few weeks and into spring.

How well are you sleeping?

Sleep is sometimes overlooked when we talk about aches, pains and musculoskeletal health.

A good night’s sleep gives the body time to rest and recover, and poor or disrupted sleep can also influence how we experience pain, stiffness and fatigue.

If your sleep hasn’t been great lately, a few simple changes to your routine may be a good place to start.

Have a look through the carousel for a few practical ideas for supporting a better night’s sleep.

🌧️ Did your exercise routine change yesterday with the weather? Wet days can make it harder to stick with your usual exercise routine.

If your normal walk, gardening or outdoor activity is off the cards, it doesn’t mean you need to stop moving altogether.

A walk around the house or shops, some gentle mobility exercises, an indoor bike or treadmill, or even putting on some music and moving (dancing!) for 10–15 minutes can all help keep you active.

Regular movement is important for our general health, but it can also be helpful when managing everyday stiffness, aches and pains. And it doesn’t have to be a full workout — a little movement throughout the day still counts.

So if the rain changed your plans, think change the activity, rather than skip the movement. ☔

Every story starts somewhere.

Before we talk about treatment, we take the time to listen.

Understanding your symptoms, health history, lifestyle and goals helps us build a clearer picture of what may be contributing to your musculoskeletal concerns.

A thorough Osteopathic assessment is the foundation of personalised care.

❄️ Another chilly start this morning here in Shepparton and across the GV - these mornings we've been waking up to can make getting out of bed just that little bit harder!

If your back, neck or joints feel a little stiffer during winter, you're certainly not alone. While we can't control the weather, small daily habits like keeping moving and staying warm may help reduce stiffness and keep you feeling more comfortable.

Swipe through for a couple of simple reminders that you can easily add into your day.

If you've noticed ongoing back pain, neck pain or joint stiffness that isn't settling, an osteopathic assessment may help identify factors contributing to your symptoms and discuss management options that are appropriate for you.

August Check-In ❄️

As winter continues, it's common to spend a little more time indoors and move a little less.

You might notice you're feeling a little stiffer when you get moving, or that everyday activities don't feel quite as comfortable as they usually do.

Sometimes a small reset is all that's needed to help you move with greater ease.

If you've been meaning to have something checked, August can be a good time to make your musculoskeletal health a priority.
