Every single one of us is ageing.

‼️For the 1st time in global history - more than 50% of the world is now over 50 years old.

Whilst we may be LIVING to be older than previous generations = LIFE SPAN.

Our HEALTH SPAN gap is not moving with LIFE SPAN. This means, when we commence medications or have a HEALTH indicator be monitored by a health care provider (aka GP), this becomes the beginning of your Health Span to Life Span gap.

📣GREAT NEWS!

📉Changes can be made to reduce the Health Span to Life Span GAP.

Even with injuries, illness etc - identifying what capabilities you DO have and combining it with what capacity you HAVE to make small, manageable and consistent changes can be the START of improving how you age.

Medical Weightloss. Commonly known as Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro or referred to as GLP-1s and GIP receptor injectibles.

FACT: these are changing the landscape of metabolic health & weight management in ways traditional nutrition and movement has been unable to achieve for most users — majority of which are women over 35yrs.

These successes are not exclusively about weightloss. They can be about managing other medical concerns like PCOS, insulin resistance, diabetes etc.

Having previously worked with barriatric clients, I am seeing similarities but even greater success with my clients whose health professionals have prescribed medical weightloss injections, especially when paired with:

WHY DO I LIFT? 🏋‍♀️

So I can keep being healthy, happy and strong doing things that I enjoy for as long as possible!

No competing. But monitor my own PBs in and out of the gym.

After a massive 2-day weekend of being Dirt Girl in the garden (yes in the 🌧!), pressure cleaning, climbing, hedging, stepping up, balancing, jumping down, deep squatting for weeding, lifting...

My 55yr self feels it. But that's ok...in fact it's EXTRA GOOD as my Dad would have said.

Today? I recognise the need to move but not flog.

Lower and slower gym weights at higher reps...it still counts. Not every workout should be a smasher.

Be kind to yourself...something ALWAYS is ALWAYS better than nothing.

Strength Training for your Bucket List!

📢Congratulations to my client Graham, who recently ticked off a bucket list item by participating in the Spanish: Mallorca 312km road cycle event. Over 8,000 cyclists and Graham finished in top 1,200!

⏱️ 226km in 10:35:34 just missing the 312km cut off by 2 min!

🏋️ Strength training was periodised from January focusing on core stability, strength and power to improve his ride position, endurance, speed and recovery - and even enjoyment! All the while being 12 weeks post-op for abdominal surgery.

🚵‍♂️ Working together on periodised cycle training.

🍏 Nutrition focus throughout training and for event was also key.

Age is just a number ...it can also be an opportunity!

If you are considering a bucket list adventure, be it walking Camino, trekking Nepal, Skiing Japan with Grandkids - get the most out of it by strength training for it!

I am proud and excited to hold this specialist qualification in training women during and beyond Menopause transitions. In particular I am grateful to the team Girls Gone Strong for their meticulous, science backed and ever current information provided to empower myself and inturn my clients.

There are many ways to measure gym "success".

Not all success needs to be a change on the scale or measuring tape! In fact, improving mobility and confidence can be the best measure of success - enabling the creation of a solid foundation for great future successes in strength, vitality, mobility and ...body composition if that's the outcome desired.

👏I am excited to share my client's mobility and strength success!
6 Weeks ago, Fran commenced working with me with a number of mobility and strength challenges.

Specifically, her lack of shoulder range of motion hindered her functional living and was a source of frustration and pain. Whilst moving her whole body was important for all her goals, shoulder range was a key focus.
✅Her Left vs Right overhead range differed by 40cm.
✅Left arm range was 60cm and is now 20cm!
✅Right arm range was 20cm and is now 5cm!
❗️She has increased strength and weights
‼️Her pain has decreased
‼️Her mobility and confidence has increased
