The CommBank Socceroos have given our , Busime, plenty to celebrate after booking their place in the World Cup knockout stage! 💚💛
The 13-year-old has been at the Queensland Children's Hospital since April with Guillain-Barré syndrome but spent Friday afternoon soaking up the World Cup atmosphere at South Bank. ⚽🏆
Back at the hospital, football fanfare has well and truly taken over Busime's room, including a World Cup ladder helping him keep track of every game result.
When the matches aren't on, Busime is hard at work in rehabilitation after a long stay in the intensive care unit. He's recently regained his voice and is rebuilding his strength, working towards walking and using his hands again.
Busime will be cheering on both the CommBank Socceroos and DR Congo for the rest of the tournament. 👏🏼
Thank you to Busime's treating team and Visit South Bank for making this special afternoon possible!

Does your child have a cough that sound like a barking seal? 🦭 It could be croup.

Croup usually affects children between 6 months and 6 years old. It causes swelling of the larynx (voice box) and airways, producing a harsh, 'barking' cough. One of the key signs of worsening croup is stridor, a high-pitched, squeaky sound that happens when a child breathes in.

How to help your child:
🤧 Keep them calm - stress can make breathing harder
🤧 Encourage them to drink fluid to stay hydrated
🤧 Seek medical attention if breathing becomes difficult.
🤧 Doctors may prescribe steroids to help reduce swelling and inflammation in their airways.

Call 000 immediately if your child:
🚨 Has loud breathing even while resting.
🚨 Looks pale, drowsy, or has blue lips.
🚨 Cannot swallow or is struggling to breathe.

Taking the kids camping these school holidays? ⛺

A campfire sounds like a great way to warm on those cold camping nights, but did you know campfires are one of the leading causes of serious burns in children?

Keep your little ones campfire safe with these 4 tips:
🔥 Always supervise children around the fire
🔥 Light your campfire in a clear area, away from tents & trees
🔥 Only extinguish a fire with water - never sand or dirt
🔥 If a burn occurs, cool with running water for 20 minutes and call 000 for medical help

💡Bonus fact: Covering a fire with sand or dirt may put out the flame, but the hot coals can stay over 100°C for 8 hours or more - creating a hidden underground oven.

Keep everyone safe these school holidays - tag your camping crew & spread the word!

⚠️ Do not heat squishy toys in microwaves⚠️

Hospitals across Australia are seeing more children with serious burn injuries after microwaving squishy toys.

When heated, these popular sensory toys can become extremely hot, melt, burst or even explode.

Talk to your children about kitchen safety, the dangers of putting non-food items in the microwave and copying trends they see online. 📱

It's World Blood Donor Day - a chance to thank donors and remember that one small act and make a life-saving difference. 🩸❤️

Every day, children at the Queensland Children's Hospital rely on donated blood for surgeries, cancer treatment, emergencies, blood disorders and ongoing medical care. By donating blood, you can help sick and injured children get back to playing, laughing and thriving.

If you've been thinking about donating, now's the time to roll up your sleeve and help change a life. And if you're already a donor - thank you for making a difference. ❤️

Our , Fotini, has had regular blood transfusions since she was 16 months old. ❤️
Born with Beta-thalassemia intermedia, a serious inherited blood disorder, Fotini relies on donated blood to help her body get the healthy red blood cells it needs.
At the start of her treatment, Fotini needed transfusions every two weeks. Now, she visits every three to four weeks, depending on her blood levels.
This National Blood Donor Week, Fotini’s story is a reminder that every blood donation changes a life. For children like Fotini, donated blood and plasma products are not just treatments, they make it possible for children to keep growing, learning and playing.
Thank you for sharing that smile with us Fotini! ❤️

Mental health may not be a term you associate with babies, but good mental health starts in infancy. ❤️

Babies are naturally curious and eager to connect with the people and world around them.

Everyday interactions with parents and caregivers can make a big difference to an infant's social and emotional wellbeing, confidence and resilience.

This Infant Mental Health Week, we encourage parents and caregivers to slow down, connect and support little minds as they grow.
