Absolute Care & Health is a premiere provider of personalised in-home aged care, disability support and recovery care. We provide individual support and nursing services, supporting our clients to live their life, their way. For 10 years we have been re-imagining what care and support can be by delivering truly great experiences for our clients every day - changing perceptions of, and re-energisin

g attitudes towards care and support. We set high standards and are proud of it; our clients and their families tell us we provide the best support. We firmly believe it's the close-knit team of people at Absolute that makes us stand out from the rest. We look for people who share our values and whose actions and attitudes demonstrate a commitment to thinking differently; to using initiative, innovation and inquisitiveness to create tailored support outside the traditional square. We value a sense of belonging and believe in bringing people together as one Absolute family. Our culture of care is focussed as much on our team as on our clients so that those who work for Absolute also have truly great experiences in their roles, every day.

Choosing a care provider? Ask these five questions.

Choosing a care provider is personal.

You’re not just comparing a list of services. You’re deciding who you feel comfortable having involved in your life, routines and support.

So don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Here are five worth starting with:

𝟭. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗲?
A provider should want to understand what matters to you. It's not just what support tasks need to be completed.

𝟮. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱?
Ask how people are chosen, prepared for their roles and matched to the support you need.

𝟯. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲?
Life changes. It’s useful to understand how your support can be reviewed and adjusted.

𝟰. 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴?
You should know who to speak with and how concerns or changes can be raised.

𝟱. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁?
Ask how quality is monitored and where relevant, how clinical care is overseen.

Good providers should welcome good questions.

After all, the support needs to work for 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

Save this list or share it with someone who is starting to compare care providers.

Meet Carol, Clinical Coordinator at Absolute — one of the people behind the scenes making things happen.

When care and support runs smoothly at home, there’s often a lot happening behind the scenes.

A schedule changes.

A new client needs support.

A health provider needs to be updated.

A nurse needs information.

An urgent request comes through.

That’s where Carol comes in.

As a Clinical Coordinator at Absolute, Carol works across health providers, funders, nurses and our internal teams to help bring all the moving parts together.

It takes organisation, communication and plenty of problem-solving, particularly when plans change at short notice.

Carol says one of the things she values most is knowing there’s a team around her when something urgent comes up:

"𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲."

And when we asked how she has grown professionally, her answer summed up the attention to detail her role requires:

"𝗧𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻, 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿, 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲."

Much of Carol’s work happens out of sight.

But it’s an important part of helping the people we support receive care that feels coordinated, responsive and personal.

Say hello to Carol below. 👋

What actually happens when you contact a care provider?

Making that first call can feel like a big step.

Especially when you’re still working out what support might look like.

But you don’t need to have everything figured out before you pick up the phone.

A useful first conversation should help explore:

❤️ What is happening now?
❤️ What support may be helpful?
❤️ What matters most to the person?
❤️ What questions do they have?
❤️ What should happen next?

You should have space to explain your situation, ask questions and talk about what matters to you.

It should feel like a conversation — not a sales pitch.

Save this post for when you begin exploring support.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿?

Making the first call can feel like a big step, especially when you’re not quite sure what support you need yet.

The good news? You don’t need to have everything worked out before you pick up the phone.

A useful first conversation should be about understanding 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

What’s happening in your life right now?

What would you like some support with?

What matters most to you and the way you want to live?

What questions are on your mind?

And what might the next step look like?

You should have the space to ask questions, explain what’s important to you and understand your options.

Because that first contact should feel like a conversation — not a sales pitch.

Save this post for when you’re ready to start exploring support or share it with someone who might find it useful.

Meet Sara Alger — nurse, care manager and proud lover of all things pink.

Sara Alger has been a nurse since the mid-1980s, but moving from hospital-based rehabilitation into community care gave her a new perspective on what happens after someone goes home.

Before joining Absolute, Sara worked as a Nurse Unit Manager in rehabilitation. She then moved into community nursing and care management, giving her the opportunity to support people beyond discharge and see more of their journey at home.

For Sara, that has been one of the most rewarding parts of the role.

Being able to follow up, understand what matters to someone and help them work towards greater independence has brought a new dimension to a career already filled with experience.

And if you’ve met Sara, there’s a good chance you’ve also noticed another important detail:

𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗸.

From her desk to her wardrobe and even the name of her racquetball team, the Pink Panthers. Sara brings plenty of personality to work with her.

One philosophy has stayed with her throughout her career:

"𝗡𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻."

We think that tells you quite a lot about Sara.

Say hello to her below. 💗

One team. Many roles. Not always in the same room.

Our carers, nurses and support workers spend much of their time out in the community, while our office team is busy behind the scenes helping everything come together.

Our recent 𝗔𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗮 gave us a chance to bring everyone into the same space. ☕️

It was an opportunity to catch up with familiar faces, meet colleagues we may have only spoken to over the phone or email, and simply spend some time getting to know each other.

When your team works across different homes, communities and roles, moments like these matter.

And a special congratulations to 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴, our lucky door prize winner! 🎉

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the afternoon such a warm one. It was great to have so many parts of Absolute together under one roof. ❤️

Were you there? Say hello in the comments and let us know who you enjoyed catching up with.

Getting support doesn’t mean giving up your independence.

Sometimes, the right support can help you do more of what matters to you.

It might mean having help to get somewhere you want to go, building confidence with everyday activities, staying connected with friends or keeping the routines that make your day feel like yours.

It could simply make it easier to continue living at home and doing things your way.

Good support shouldn’t take over your life.

𝗜𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁.

Save or share this with someone who’s beginning to explore support.

A little yellow flower. A lot of hope.

Today is Daffodil Day. 🌼

For 40 years, Daffodil Day has brought Australians together to support Cancer Council’s work in cancer research and to recognise everyone whose life has been touched by cancer.

For some people, today may bring memories.

For others, it represents someone they’re supporting right now.

And for many, the daffodil remains a simple symbol of hope for what research can make possible.

Today, we’re thinking of the people living with cancer, those supporting someone they love, those remembering someone important to them, and the researchers working towards better outcomes.

If you’d like to support Daffodil Day, Cancer Council is accepting donations and fundraising throughout August.

Personalised care should mean more than putting your name on a care plan.

Your morning routine.

The way you like your coffee.

The people you want around you.

The places you enjoy going.

The goals that matter to you.

Good support starts by understanding the person before planning the tasks.

Because support should fit around your life — not require your life to fit around a service.

That’s what person-centred care should actually mean.

What’s one routine you would never want to give up?
