First time coming in for a scan? Here's everything you need to bring 📋

✅ Your referral from your GP or specialist
✅ Your Medicare card (and any private health card)
✅ A list of any current medications
✅ Any previous imaging
✅ Your health fund card if applicable

At The Women's Imaging Centre, we understand that a mammogram is more than just a scan. It can feel vulnerable, uncertain, and sometimes frightening and we never lose sight of that.

Our team comprises highly skilled radiologists, radiographers, sonographers, nurses, and support staff, all with extensive experience in women's imaging. Every member of our team is not only proficient in their field but deeply sensitive to the needs of women of all ages and backgrounds, particularly those who may be feeling anxious.

🌸 All screening mammograms are double read, reviewed independently by two specialist radiologists to maximise accuracy and give you the greatest possible confidence in your results

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting Australian women, but when detected early, outcomes are significantly better.

BreastScreen Australia recommends women aged 50–74 have a free screening mammogram every two years. But if you have symptoms, a family history, or concerns at any age, please don't wait, speak to your GP.

You walk out after your scan… and then what?

Behind the scenes, your images are carefully reviewed by one of our radiologists, who interprets your scan and looks for even the smallest details that could make a difference.

Your report is then sent to your doctor, who will talk you through the results and what happens next.

It might feel like a quick appointment to you, but there’s a whole team working quietly in the background to make sure nothing is missed.
