Staying hydrated...
A small matter...but oh, sooo important!
Whether you are pregnant, or mum to little ones...looking after YOU is so very important!
And it's the simple things, like drinking enough fluids, that can make the difference between getting through your day, and getting the most out of your day!
Dehydration can affect your body in so many ways...
Fatigue
Headaches
Lightheadedness
Difficulty making decisions
Dry lips
Constipation

In this current weather situation, keeping up your fluids is soo important!

Tips for staying hydrated...
Keep a water bottle handy, sip often.
Put ice in all your drinks...
Make a jug of ice fruit tea and keep in the fridge...
Put a drip or two of Lemon essential oil, or Wild Orange/Grapefruit in your glass of water in the morning...
Big glass of water every time you feed baby!
Big glass of water with meals...
Big glass water handy whilst cooking dinner...
Keep water bottle by your bed overnight.

How do YOU keep up your fluids??

Protecting your unborn baby from Whooping Cough is one of the simplest things you can do during pregnancy...making sure you are vaccinated against Pertussis, ensures you develop antibodies, which are passed on to baby.
It is also very important that anyone coming into contact with baby before baby's 6 week vaccinations, is vaccinated against Pertussis/Whooping Cough as well.

With only a third of pregnant Queensland women getting vaccinated, doctors worry that cases of whooping cough in newborns will continue to spike across the state.

We do our children a disservice, when we organise and plan all their time for them...let them be, to develop their own skills and imagination

Times have changed, and we're all a lot more stressed out because of it. But it can be avoided.

Very interesting... And makes so much sense! When my eldest was a toddler, he had terrible recurrent tonsillitis, and I got to know when he was getting sick because his behaviour would go "off" a day or two prior...probably due to the swelling in his airways! And it all resolved after they were removed.
Something to think about...

We need to be mindful of the chemicals we use everyday. Just because it's on a Supermarket shelf, doesn't mean it's safe.
Our wee babies have sensitive skin, that can absorb anything you put on it.

A natural, safe and cheap alternative for commercial fabric softeners, is plain white vinegar and a few drops of Lavender essential oil!

SLEEP is a dirty word when you have a new baby! Everyone knows it... but what can you do about it?

Babies don't sleep for long periods when they are very young, for several reasons. They have smaller bellies, so they need feeding more often. They haven't developed a "Circadian Rhythm" yet - ie they haven't learnt daytime from nighttime. And their sleep cycle is shorter.

As a new parent, it is really important to get some sleep WHEN YOU CAN! This means... LEAVE the dishes in the sink a little longer, go lie down when baby nods off... ASK that trusted visitor to sit with baby for a bit, while you go have a Power-Nap... Pump some milk/Prepare a bottle for night-time and get your partner to do the feed - remember, share the parenting!

Power Napping is GOOD for you! Research shows that short naps during the day can be beneficial for your mental alertness, your mood and your general wellbeing. Even a 10 minute Power Nap can do wonders! (I worked Nightshift for many years, and I can tell you, I SURVIVED on Power Naps!)

Don't feel guilty! You aren't being lazy. You are taking care of YOU...so that you can care for your little one.

So go do it. Turn off your phone. Close the blinds. Lie down and close your eyes. It may take a bit of practice to actually nod off... but keep practicing!
