Recently some of our ladies enjoyed a lunch together at Brell House and it was a wonderful reminder that health is about so much more than workouts.

Connection, conversation, support and laughter all play a role in our wellbeing.

When you really donโ€™t feel like goingโ€ฆ

I didnโ€™t feel like doing my run today without my usual run buddy.

All morning I kept thinking about how today is usually my routine day - the day I do something for myself. And this year, Iโ€™ve genuinely committed to training well and putting in a strong effort for City2Surf.

But there were so many things pulling at my attention insteadโ€ฆ
Housework.
Work admin.
Study.
Projects.
Life.

I had to stop and ask myself:
How much do I want this goal?

And honestly, all it took was putting on my shoes, grabbing my keys and closing the front door behind me to see what would happen next.

Iโ€™m so glad I did.

Another training streak continued.
Another tiny but significant step forward.

And while I was out there, the sun burst through the clouds for a moment in the middle of all this rainโ€ฆ and I was reminded just how grateful I am to have my health and my legs to move today ๐Ÿซถ

Sometimes we donโ€™t need motivation.
We just need to start.

A few people have stopped to tell us that seeing our Sunday runs out in the community has motivated and inspired them to get moving too. Honestly, that means so much.

Sometimes itโ€™s not about being the fastest runner - itโ€™s simply about showing up, taking the first step and doing it together.

Sometimes the strongest thing we can doโ€ฆ is pause for a moment and actually enjoy it โ˜•๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿซถ

As Motherโ€™s Day arrives, I hope the women reading this take a breath, take a time out, and allow themselves to feel appreciated too.

Today Iโ€™m thinking of my own mum and all she did for us, along with the many mother figures who shape our lives in different ways.

To the mums, grandmothers, step mums, aunties, daughters carrying heavy loads, the women longing to be mums, the carers, teachers, midwives, nurses, support workers, foster mums, those caring for ageing parents, fur baby mums, and the women quietly holding families, workplaces and communities together every single dayโ€ฆ

Your care matters more than you probably realise.

I hope you find a small moment this weekend that feels peaceful, joyful or simply yours.

What started as a few offhand words became a lifelong story I carried โ€” one that led me into incredible work as a PT and Health Coach, but only after years of battling self-esteem and learning self-acceptance (which didnโ€™t come until my 40s).

For some, the journey isnโ€™t so forgiving. Please be mindful of what children hear โ€” little ears canโ€™t interpret intention, they just absorb meaning.

So many of us still carry those early stories that quietly shape how we see ourselves. ๐Ÿ’ญ If youโ€™re struggling, reaching out for mental health support can make a world of difference โ€” you donโ€™t have to carry it alone.
