MEDIA RELEASE - SERVICES AUSTRALIA RECOMMENCING IN BALONNE
Following a loss of Services Australia in Balonne Shire in October 2025, Council welcomes the news that Indigicare Connect has taken on the contract to bring Services Australia back to the Shire.
Services Australia facilitates a range of government services such as Centrelink, Medicare, MyGov support, Disability, Carer and Aged support along with a range of other government support services.
This new Services Australia Outreach Service will commence on 20 July 2026 and will operate out of its previously held offices at 88-90 St George’s Terrace, St George and be available for all residents in the Balonne Shire and beyond from 9am to 1pm on weekdays.
Balonne Shire Mayor Samantha O’Toole welcomed the news of Services Australia coming back to Balonne Shire.
“Having Services Australia back in our Shire is incredibly good news for our residents who will again be able to locally access vital government support services,” said Mayor O’Toole.
“Regional areas all to often suffer from a loss of services, so to have this outreach service returned to our area is a great win for the residents of Balonne.
“On behalf of all local residents, I would like to sincerely thank Indigicare Connect for stepping up and taking on this new contract to recommence Services Australia in Balonne.”
Indigicare Connect Director Jenny Waters is proud to be bringing Services Australia back to the region.
“We fully understand how important it is for our local residents to have access to government support on the ground in our region and are proud to be able to facilitate the return of Services Australia in Balonne,” said Mrs Waters.
“We want to make sure that all local residents are aware that this Outreach Service will be based in St George, however it will service the needs of all local residents in the Shire, not just St George.
“The Outreach Services will be open from 9am to 1pm each weekday and we are currently seeking applications from passionate, community-minded locals to fill the roles of Services Australia Officer and Disability Support Services.”
