The stage where an older baby/nurseling will happily pull your shirt up and down, and latch in any which way that serves them. However it is also important that you feel comfortable in your body too!
If it is too much for you, it is okay to put boundaries in place for how you want to breastfeed your baby.
It’s important you feel comfortable, supported and stable.
It’s ok to redirect - choose a Boundary phrase and offer an alternative e.g. “We don’t do boo-boo this way, but we can sit on the chair and have it there”
It is also helpful for your baby’s chin to be nice and close to the breast, with head slightly tilted back so there is space between their chin and chest. This helps to get a wider latch, tongue coming forward over the lower gums/teeth, minimizing the chances of an accidental bite.
And if it doesn’t bother you, continue boobing on. But always remember - it’s ok to set boundaries. Sometimes well placed boundaries help families feel more confident to continue their breastfeeding relationship for longer than anticipated 💜
