NSW Stoma is a not-for-profit, member-based organisation that aims to improve the quality of life of ostomates across NSW.

🎓 Are you a registered nurse in NSW considering Stomal Therapy Nursing? You may be eligible for up to $7,500 towards your study costs.

The NSW Stoma Ltd Penn Foundation Stomal Therapy Nurse Scholarship assists nurses undertaking further study to qualify as Stomal Therapy Nurses.

The scholarship aims to encourage more nurses to train in stomal therapy and help strengthen specialist care for ostomates across NSW. NSW Stoma has also highlighted the shortage of stomal therapy nurses, particularly in regional areas.

Eligible applicants must be registered nurses living and practising in NSW and enrolled in the College of Nursing Graduate Certificate in Stomal Therapy Nursing.

🚴 One of our own is taking on a big challenge this September.

NSW Stoma member David Hede is getting on his bike to raise funds for cancer care across NSW, and we’ll be cheering him on every kilometre of the way.

David is taking part in Go The Distance, raising funds for Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and helping support compassionate, specialist cancer care, including support for regional patients who can face the added burden of travelling long distances for treatment.

Throughout September, we’ll be sharing updates on David’s progress as the kilometres add up.

📢 Nominations are now open for the 2026 NSW Stoma Limited Director Election.

The NSW Stoma Limited Board is inviting nominations from eligible members for the 2026 Director election.

Four current directors are retiring at this election. Three are eligible for re election and have indicated their intention to stand again. There is one vacant Director position.

❤️‍🩹 At NSW Stoma, we know it's not always easy to live life with a stoma (many of us are ostomates ourselves). However, as time goes on, you might just find having a stoma gives you a part of your life back that your illness previously robbed you of. If your stoma was due to trauma or a sudden emergency surgery, we hope you're still able to find a silver lining amongst the grief.

👐 This week is National Volunteer Week so we're taking this opportunity to thank all of our wonderful volunteers here at NSW Stoma!

🙏 We are very fortunate to have 29 lovely volunteers who generously give their time to NSW Stoma in multiple roles.

📦 From picking and dispatching orders in our warehouse, manning the reception desk, answering the phone and other admin duties, helping with our education and support services, to ensuring our governance is of the highest standards by serving on our Board, our volunteers are crucial to the smooth and efficient operation of our organisation.

🫶 So to all our volunteers (past, present, and future... could this be you?), we thank you for your time and dedication to NSW Stoma and your fellow ostomates; you are truly invaluable members of team NSW Stoma and we really couldn't do it without you.
