Introducing one of the beautiful teachers joining us for the AGNI Protocol Retreat.

Ross brings a depth of wisdom shaped through years of experience in yoga, mindfulness, and retreat facilitation. His approach is grounded, steady, and deeply caring — holding space in a way that allows people to soften, listen inward, and reconnect with what truly matters.

With a rich background in guiding practices that support presence and embodied awareness, Ross weaves together movement, stillness, and reflection in a way that feels both accessible and profoundly supportive.
We are so grateful to have Ross as part of this journey — offering his presence, his lived wisdom, and his genuine care for the process of transformation that unfolds when we slow down enough to truly meet ourselves.

Winter in Ayurveda is known as Kapha season, a time of coolness, heaviness, moisture, and stillness. Nature naturally slows down, and we are invited to do the same.

Kapha is made of earth and water, so when it is in balance, it brings strength, stability, immunity, and deep nourishment. But when it becomes excessive, we can start to feel sluggish, congested, foggy, or stuck.

According to Ayurvedic wisdom, winter is also when our digestive fire (Agni) is actually at its strongest. This means the body can handle more nourishing, grounding foods — but it also needs the right support to prevent Kapha from accumulating.

This season is not about restriction. It’s about intelligent warmth and movement.

To support balance in Kapha season:
• Choose warm, cooked, lightly spiced foods
• Include pungent, bitter, and astringent tastes (ginger, greens, spices)
• Reduce cold, raw, and overly heavy foods
• Stay gently active to keep energy moving
• Prioritise warmth — in food, routine, and environment

Kapha season is an invitation to slow down without stagnating. To nourish deeply, while keeping energy clear and flowing.

There are moments in my work where I stop and feel it so deeply how grateful I am to do what I do.

To hold space for people as they soften, release, and come back home to themselves is something I never take for granted. Every treatment, every consultation, every conversation carries something sacred in it. A trust. A surrender. A quiet remembering.

I feel so much love for this work — for Ayurveda, for its simplicity and its depth, and for the way it continues to guide not only my clients, but me as well.

It’s not always easy to put into words, but I feel it in my body every day — this sense of purpose, of alignment, of being exactly where I’m meant to be.

To everyone who has trusted me on their journey, thank you. It is an honour beyond words to walk beside you.

I’ve been noticing it so much lately… people arriving feeling tired in a way that sleep doesn’t seem to fix.

Digestion feeling all over the place.
Aches in the body.
Feeling emotional, overwhelmed, flat, or just not quite like themselves.
And honestly? I see it every year around this time.

As the seasons shift, our bodies feel it deeply — and sometimes what we actually need isn’t to push harder, but to slow down and properly support ourselves.

This is why I love Ayurveda so much. Time and time again, I watch people come back to themselves through simple but powerful support — bodywork, treatments, nourishment, nervous system care, and personalised guidance that works with the body, not against it.

I still have a few spaces available for May, and June is filling quickly. If your body has been asking for support, I’d love to welcome you into VIDA Ayurveda.

The AGNI Protocol Retreat is more than just a retreat… it's a rare opportunity to be held and guided by an incredible team of practitioners, all in one space.

To have the wisdom of Vaidya Matheus Macêdo, Ayurvedic practitioners, yoga teachers, sound healers, and facilitators all coming together with one shared intention — to support your healing, restoration, and transformation — is truly something special.

This retreat has been something I have dreamt of sharing for years and has been created with so much depth, care, and intention. Every practice, every meal, every moment is designed to help you reconnect with your body, calm your nervous system, strengthen your Agni, and come back to yourself.

The bloating.
The fatigue.
The brain fog.
The feeling of being “off” in yourself.

Ayurveda sees these symptoms as messages — not random inconveniences.

VIDA consultations help you understand the root cause of what’s going on in your body, while treatments support you to slow down, reset, and come back into balance.

Because feeling good shouldn’t feel so hard.

The cooler, rainier days have definitely arrived here in Byron Bay… which means I’ve been reaching for all the warming herbs lately.

One I especially love at this time of year is rosemary. In Ayurveda, autumn can increase Vata dosha — bringing feelings of scattered energy, brain fog, dryness, and fatigue. Rosemary is warming, stimulating, and grounding, making it such a beautiful herb for this seasonal shift.

It’s used to:
– Support circulation
– Improve mental clarity and focus
– Warm and stimulate digestion
– Ease sluggish, heavy energy

One of the simplest ways to use it? Add fresh rosemary to warm meals, herbal teas, or even place a few sprigs in the shower for a calming, earthy aroma.

Rosemary is not specifically mentioned in the classical Ayurvedic texts, however it has been thoughtfully integrated into modern Ayurvedic practice through the principles of dravya guṇa (the study of the qualities and actions of substances). This approach allows us to understand any herb through its energetic qualities — taste, potency, post-digestive effect, and its impact on the doshas.

Because of this, Ayurveda remains a living, evolving science rather than a closed system.

It also reminds us that Ayurvedic principles are not limited to Indian herbs alone — they can be applied anywhere in the world, with local plants and ingredients that share similar qualities. Whether it is rosemary in Australia, sage in Europe, or basil in Asia, the intelligence of nature is universal.

This is one of the most beautiful aspects of Ayurveda: it teaches us how to think, not just what to use.

Sometimes the smallest seasonal rituals can make the biggest difference.

What is Ojas — and why does it matter?

In Ayurveda, Ojas is your body’s vital essence — the subtle energy that supports immunity, resilience, and overall vitality.

When Ojas is strong, you feel:
– Grounded and calm
– Energised (without being wired)
– Emotionally steady
– Glowing from the inside out

When it’s depleted, it can look like:
– Burnout or fatigue
– Getting sick easily
– Feeling anxious or fragile
– Low mood or lack of motivation

Ojas is built slowly through rest, nourishment, and consistency — things like warm, wholesome foods, quality sleep, and slowing down when your body needs it.

It’s not something you can rush… but it’s something you can gently rebuild.

If you’ve been feeling depleted, a VIDA treatment or consultation can help you start restoring your Ojas in a way that feels supportive and sustainable.
