Not the one performing or managing perceptions. Nor the one holding it together on the outside, while quietly falling apart within.

But the one underneath all of that

Not because he doesn’t exist, but because getting to him requires something most men spend their entire lives avoiding

Honesty

Raw, uncomfortable, nowhere to FU***NG hide honesty

Instead, they numb, distract and stay busy enough so the quiet never catches them.
Because in the quiet is where the real questions live

Is this actually the life I want?
Am I showing up as the man I’m capable of being?
What am I really running from?
The longer those questions go unanswered, the heavier everything becomes

Work feels empty
Anger finds a target

Every man reaches a point where he feels the gap

The gap between the life he’s living and the life he knows he’s capable of

It doesn’t announce itself loudly, showing up in the quiet. Within the restlessness he can’t explain, and the frustration with no clean target

That hollow feeling at the end of another day that looked fine on the outside. Almost immediately, he talks himself out of it

Not yet
I need more time
It’s not the right moment
And so he waits

A week becomes a month, and a month becomes a year. A year becomes a version of himself he no longer recognises

The fire dims so gradually he barely notices. Urgency becomes merely background noise. Hunger becomes resignation. And ‘I’ll deal with this soon’ becomes the quiet belief that maybe this is just who I am now

That’s the real damage
Not the time lost. Nor the opportunities missed. It’s what a man does to his own self-trust every time he feels the call to rise and chooses comfort instead
