Many children with autism experience auditory sensitivities. These sensitivities often trigger fight, flight, or freeze responses? We have tiny muscles in our ear that stabilize the eardrum to dampen loud sounds and help the ear filter out background noise. If these muscles are not working efficiently sounds are amplified. The SSP acoustic therapy is like taking the ears to the gym. Strengthening the small muscles so they can perform their function. After the SSP children are less anxious and sound is less activating. Often communication and social skills improve.
