Making the most of these beautiful sunny days and the September school holidays! ☀️
It’s been another fantastic 2 weeks of fun, fresh air and new experiences at Little Bean Respite.
A huge thank you to our support workers for the extra hours they’ve put in over the school holidays, your care, flexibility, and dedication make such a difference. 💛
🎉 Welcome back, Casey! After a challenging couple of weeks, it was wonderful to see Casey back out and about. Casey enjoyed a visit to the local markets with Lyla and also spent time at Fairhill Gardens, where he visited his guinea pig and goat friends, and even took a goat for a walk! 🐐💚
🍕 Eva had a blast making pizza with Mikaela, making some keychains to add to her small business, relaxed at the beach in the winter sun, squeezed in a spot of shopping at the plaza, and snuck in a visit to Gelato Rumba! 🍦
🐿️ Alister had a great time with Nalissa exploring, seeing a movie and playing at Chipmunks.
⛏️ James enjoyed the sunshine while trying his hand at opal mining, a fun adventure filled with excitement and discovery.
🍊 Lyla enjoyed making fresh orange juice before heading off to explore the local markets with Casey.
We love creating opportunities for the people we support to get out into the community, build confidence, make memories, develop independence and experience something new. Every activity/outing is another chance to learn, grow, and have fun.
Here’s to more sunshine, smiles, and adventures! 💛
Thank you to our families for trusting us with both your little & teen beans!💫

💙 Little Bean Families/Supporters please keep our courageous Little Bean, Casey in your thoughts as he bravely battles a lung infection in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit 🏥💙
Casey you have already been through so much. At just 10 years old, you’ve faced more than anyone should ever have to endure, yet you continue to show us what true courage and resilience look like. You are an absolute trooper. 💪💙
These photos are a reminder of the special bond Casey shares with his support workers Nalissa, Natalie & Mikaela. No matter what kind of day he’s having, they always know how to bring out that gorgeous smile. 😊❤️ Those smiles are gold to us.
Everyone here at Little Bean Respite is thinking of you, cheering you on, and hoping you’ll be back to your happy, spirited self very soon🐶💙
Come on, Casey, you’ve got a whole team behind you. We can’t wait to see that smile again. 🌟 This video was taken during a visit last week with Nalissa who was helping Casey to be a little active to aid with chest Physio.
Please join us in sending Casey and his family your love, strength, and best wishes. 💙🙏

Sunday Fun & Friendship 🎳🍪🌻🌳

Casey and Lyla had Sunday filled with fun, friendship, and community participation!

Their day included
🎳 Bowling
🌻 Visiting the community garden ~ lots of different herbs to feel & smell 🍃
🌳 Time at the local park
🍪 Baking cookies

Bowling was a nice way to support physical development, helping to improve balance, coordination, strength, and motor planning while having fun. It also encourages turn-taking, problem-solving, concentration, and social interaction.

Baking cookies proved a sensory opportunity to practise fine motor skills through mixing & pouring. Following a recipe also supports sequencing, attention, and independence in everyday life skills.

Most importantly, the day was filled with laughter, friendship, and meaningful community engagement. We love seeing Casey and Lyla building confidence, developing skills, and creating happy memories together! 💜✨

🌸 A Wonderful Day Out in the sunshine with our
Little Beans! 🌸

Lyla had a fun exploring the All Abilities Park.
She enjoyed a sensory experience in the garden, smelling a variety of herbs and discovering different scents. She also had fun trying out lots of different swings and practised using her cane safely on the stairs. After a picnic lunch, Lyla headed to the shops to collect ingredients for a chocolate cake before returning home to bake.

Baking provided a great opportunity for Lyla to practise many of her kitchen skills, and she was absolutely delighted with the result! 🍫🎂 She also enjoyed trying Papaya!

Meanwhile, Casey enjoyed a fun-filled day at Cotton Tree with Nalissa, including a visit to Strike Bowling, where plenty of smiles and laughter were shared. 🎳😊

We hope all of our Little Beans had a wonderful time out and about in their communities, building skills, confidence, and enjoying new experiences.

💗 At Little Bean Respite, every day is an opportunity to learn, grow, try new skills, practice old ones and have fun! 💗

🌿✨ A beautiful day out for Little Bean Respite
today! ✨🌿

Today we visited the Maleny Botanical Gardens, where the girls spent time meeting and feeding lots of friendly animals including guinea pigs, goats, donkeys, alpacas, chickens, geese & rabbits 🐹🦙🐐🐓

After soaking in the gorgeous surrounds, we enjoyed lunch overlooking the breathtaking hinterland views 🌄 before venturing into the magical fairy garden 🧚‍♀️✨ Sophie absolutely loved the enchanting fairytale setting, while Lyla was happy admiring it from the outside as it felt a little dark inside for her.

We then shared some hot chips under the rotunda 🍟 before heading to the beautiful Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve 🌳

The girls explored the world-class Rainforest Discovery Centre, a wonderful space filled with interactive, multi-sensory educational displays designed to help visitors of all ages & abilities learn more about the rainforest environment. The hands on experiences and dynamic interpretation spaces made learning fun, engaging & accessible 🌱🦋🐛

A lovely day filled with animals, nature, learning, adventure & special memories 💚 We always find the staff very helpful and accommodating🌟

🐐🐑🐄 Casey’s visit to White Ridge Farm! 🌿☀️

With his food bucket in hand, Casey made sure every animal received their fair share, showing such kindness, patience and thoughtfulness throughout the visit. 🥕🐾 It was beautiful to see how mindful he was with each animal, making sure none were missed.

Our big animal lover absolutely thrives being out and about in the community with Nalissa, exploring new places, building connections and sharing moments that bring him a lot of happiness❤️

A lovely day filled with fresh air, furry friends,
great alternate communication and happy
memories! 🐓🐖✨

Lyla had a beautiful day at the Woombye Festival 🌸🎡 filled with fun, learning and creativity. She enjoyed yummy popcorn 🍿, sat in the vintage cars 🚗✨ and loved wearing her butterfly wings 🦋 as she explored the festival atmosphere & listened to folk music 🎶

The afternoon was spent cooking delicious banana and blueberry bread 🍌🫐🍞, where Lyla continued to develop some wonderful life skills. She confidently practised mashing, mixing, pouring, washing up and drying up 👩‍🍳🥣🧼, (practising bilateral integration skills), while showing growing independence and great enthusiasm in the kitchen. These everyday skills hold such valuable importance, it is lovely to see Lyla’s confidence and abilities continue to flourish 💛
