Deaf in dance: feeling the beat has been named a finalist for Best industry collaboration with people with disability or who are d/Deaf in the 2026 Creative Brisbane Awards 🎉

Through powerful artworks and digital stories – alongside photojournalist Sean Davey’s images from State Library’s collection – the showcase celebrated the talent and achievements of the Deaf Indigenous Dance Group (DIDG).

The NDIS Commission has gained new powers under recently passed legislation.

These powers enable us to take stronger regulatory action, increase safeguards for people with disability, and protect the sustainability of the Scheme.

Key changes include:

☑️ Stronger penalty frameworks, including increased civil penalties of over $15 million, and criminal offences with up to five years' imprisonment
☑️ Measures to restrict aggressive and misleading marketing tactics
☑️ Stronger information gathering powers
