πŸ’• Client Testimonial πŸ’•

The impact of a breast cancer diagnosis extends far beyond treatment. Sometimes, it's the small acts of kindness, compassion and support that make all the difference.

"The support I have received from the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program has been invaluable. It started with a visit in hospital by one of their breast care nurses. It was so nice to have someone sit and chat about things while I was feeling vulnerable and emotional following surgery.

"On my first night in hospital the Cindy Mackenzie nurse came in to check on me, and gave me a little cushion to make me more comfortable. Then, before I was discharged, the nurse ran through some helpful information about support services in the area. She also explained the work of their cancer program and how they supported people with breast cancer on the Sunshine Coast.

"Then this week, which was a difficult week with more tests and results, the Cindy Mackenzie team sent me the most lovely bunch of flowers which really did make me feel special and cared for. It's been the genuine care and compassion from the team which has been so helpful at a very difficult time in my life. I cannot thank them enough." – F.H.

Thank you, F.H., for sharing your experience and for allowing us to be part of your support network.

Our Breast Care Nurses and support team are committed to ensuring that no one faces breast cancer alone. Whether it's providing practical information, emotional support, financial assistance, or simply checking in when it's needed most, we're here every step of the way.

A THINK PINK ticket is more than a night out.

It's groceries for a family doing it tough during treatment.

It's fuel to get to appointments.

It's practical support when life feels overwhelming.

Last financial year, the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program provided more than $93,000 in support to local people and families affected by breast cancer.

On Saturday, 10 October, we'll come together to celebrate our community, hear inspiring stories, enjoy a beautiful evening at The Lakehouse, and raise funds that stay right here on the Sunshine Coast.

A special thank you to Sunshine Coast Haematology and Oncology Clinic for helping make this event possible.

πŸ’™ This Father's Day, we're thinking of all the dads, partners, sons, brothers, friends and carers who stand beside the people we serve.

Breast cancer doesn't affect just one person. It touches families, relationships and entire support networks.

To the men who drive to appointments, make meals, offer encouragement, sit quietly through difficult days and simply show up when it matters most, thank you.

Your support makes a difference every day.

Happy Father's Day from all of us at the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program. πŸ’™

🌟 Meet the Team – Esme 🌟

Today we're introducing Esme, Buderim Private Hospital volunteer, and a passionate supporter of the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program.

1. What inspired you to become involved with the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program, and what do you enjoy most about supporting its work?

Volunteering with the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program has given me the opportunity to support a cause that makes a real difference in our local community. Knowing that the funds raised stay on the Sunshine Coast and directly benefit people going through breast cancer treatment is incredibly rewarding. It’s great being part of a team of dedicated volunteers and seeing the generosity of our community come together to help others during a challenging time.

2. As a volunteer at Buderim Private Hospital, what difference have you seen the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program make for patients and families?

I've seen firsthand how the program provides practical support and comfort when people need it most. Whether it's helping patients access services, easing some of the financial burden, or simply knowing they have the support of their local community, the program makes a genuine difference. It not only helps patients but also gives reassurance to their families, allowing them to focus on what matters mostβ€”supporting their loved one through treatment and recovery.

3. What’s something that brings you joy outside volunteering.

Outside of volunteering, I enjoy keeping active with Pilates, pickleball and going for walks. I also love spending quality time with my family and friends. I’m also a keen traveller.
