Hello Sunshine Support Coordination

Hello Sunshine Support Coordination Helping NDIS participants to work towards their dream life.

Hello Sunshine Support Coordination are team based on Sunshine Coast but we can provide support coordination to anyone in Australia. We help build skills and confidence to manage and coordinate services including:

- chat to you about your 'dream life' and work out a plan to get there!
- finding the right support team to match your needs and personality
- breaking down your NDIS plan into easy-to-

understand language
- help with budgets and what you can use your NDIS funding on
- work ourselves out of a job by teaching you to do what we do, where possible
- build community and friendships outside of paid supports
- help get ready for plan reassessment meetings
- be a passenger in NDIS meetings as much as possible, meaning we only speak up when necessary - You are the expert about your life, we just NDIS-translate for better outcomes when needed!

Welcoming Shannon Dodson to our team!!!

Shannon comes to us with a wealth of experience working for many years as a support worker in an independent living college, Supported Independent Living (SIL) houses and 1:1.

Working with a diverse range of people, helping spark joy and holding a vast amount of knowledge about other government systems (eg. Centrelink), we truly are grateful she has chosen to come on board with us for her next chapter!

Shannon is pro-active, genuinely excited to make an impact and help the people she supports work towards their dream life - all while having SUCH an infectious laugh.

Feel free to reach out if you are seeking support coordination!

0459 766 630 or [email protected]

Don't have support coordination in your NDIS plan or unsure? We are happy to guide you or may still be able to help.
We can build your skills to help you self-or plan manage your plan,
provide parent training,
and/or help with those tricky NDIS budgets!

Timeline update of the planned NDIS changes. These are planned dates but can change. We will try keep you as up to date as possible.

Info taken from the amazing DSC team.

Adding on from my email about Minister Butler's speech regarding NDIS changes, we now have more of an idea of when some of these changes will take effect.

DSC has a great timeline, which is broken down nicely and you can choose to have it read aloud to you. Link here:

https://teamdsc.com.au/resources/timeline-of-ndis-changes?utm_source=Klaviyo&utm_medium=campaign&_kx=I598Tm4tY0q0tltgu8DrIpz0ri6RjNM2qVrDWMm_rk4n1V3wljJbWwYA6WxO2DCB.X8eRsJ

From this information, we have used AI to help create a simple easy-read version below (and attached), so you can download it to zoom in, if needed.

What do the changes mean for you?

Ensuring your Supported Independent Living (SIL) providers are NDIS-registered by 1st July, 2026. If they are not, ensuring a smooth transition to SIL provider that is. If you manage your own SIL supports (eg. use of sole traders) this may not apply to you.

Keeping all reports up to date (less than 12 months old) as NDIS are still using these for reassessments and outlining your disability-support needs. No changes right now.

Changes to the reassessment process - Support Needs Assessment (I-CAN) is not due to roll-out until April 2027. No changes right now. We are looking at tools to help prepare for this.

Thriving Kids (children 8 years old and under) will start rolling out in October 2026, but there is no further information about how this looks yet. For now, we keep reports up to date to ensure we are prepared for reassessment. No changes for now.

Ensure all new reports state why community access support from the NDIS for you is essential and not just a 'nice to have',

If we need to request a plan change, we will work together to make sure it meets the new requirements,

If your plan is auto-extended or continued (often called a 'roll over') that any unused funding may not roll-over like it used to. It is expected this change will happen quickly (7-day turnaround), but no firm dates have been provided.

If you are plan-managed - we will keep an eye on the NDIS-approved plan manager panel and ensure your plan manager is listed once it is released (estimated October, 2027) If they are not on the panel, we will ensure you are linked with an approved provider to ensure continuity of care.

If you receive a new NDIS plan, it will be important to tell all of your providers, as they will only have 90 days to submit any invoices from your old plan.

We will be working in the background to ensure we are considered part of the NDIS-approved support coordinator provider panel in the future. There are no details about how we do this. We love what we do and plan to do what is necessary to continue being support coordinators or navigators!

Again, please always reach out to us if you have any concerns or are hearing anything in the media / social media that you wanted to talk about, as there are a lot of rumours, some of which may not be true or known yet!

Feel free to download these images, so you can zoom in too!

We have included the nitty-gritty Parliament Bill link for those interested in the finer details:

You may have seen Minister Butler had an announcement about an NDIS 'reset' last night.

This can sound scary and make you feel threatened about your own future within the NDIS. Media, especially rumours already circulating around Facebook and social media, are causing a lot of noise! We are here to help you break it down and how it might impact you and look at the facts.

What the changes will mean for you = probably not a lot right now.

A great podcast episode about the upcoming NDIS changes to reassessments - the Support Needs Assessment (SNA) tool. Rolling out from mid-2026 onwards.

https://youtu.be/TAuNXEzzhLM?si=kagPfbgpjiRXNB3x

Can't commit to an hour?
Notes:
- rolling out mid-2026 onwards - a 4.5 - 5 hour process.
- 16-17 year olds will be first in the rollout, and only those that are not considered complex.
- SNA partly uses the I-CAN tool, which has been used by the Aged Care system and was developed by World Health Organisation (WHO)
- I-CAN covers 12 domains of function such as grooming, social, self-determination.
- Will be a conversational-style interview with the assessor.
- funding will be flexible across core and capacity-building funding categories - some funding will be 'stated' like high-cost assistive technology and complex home modifications.
- therapy funding will likely be just therapy funding.
- SNA will also use Personal and Environmental considerations and targeted assessments for complex or for assessments such as the high-cost assistive technology or home modifications.
- Assessors will start as qualified allied health professionals - a core number of staff. Training to use the I-CAN tool will likely occur with staff already within the NDIA such as current planners.
- 3 - 4 hours to undertake assessment with breaks allowed. It is very likely the sector will provide feedback on this as being far too long.
- the SNA will be able to be reviewed if NDIS participant is unhappy with the assessment or there were errors. An entire SNA would have to be undertaken.
- the view is this assessment tool will replace the need for allied health reporting like participants currently have eg. OT functional capacity assessment (FCA) reports
- there will be complete transparency how the assessment will inform the overall budget.

Only too happy to chat if you have any concerns about the Support Needs Assessment rollout. There is still a lot unknown but can help break down as much as I know too - Kay 0459 766 630
