Timeline update of the planned NDIS changes. These are planned dates but can change. We will try keep you as up to date as possible.
Info taken from the amazing DSC team.
Adding on from my email about Minister Butler's speech regarding NDIS changes, we now have more of an idea of when some of these changes will take effect.
DSC has a great timeline, which is broken down nicely and you can choose to have it read aloud to you. Link here:

From this information, we have used AI to help create a simple easy-read version below (and attached), so you can download it to zoom in, if needed.
What do the changes mean for you?
Ensuring your Supported Independent Living (SIL) providers are NDIS-registered by 1st July, 2026. If they are not, ensuring a smooth transition to SIL provider that is. If you manage your own SIL supports (eg. use of sole traders) this may not apply to you.
Keeping all reports up to date (less than 12 months old) as NDIS are still using these for reassessments and outlining your disability-support needs. No changes right now.
Changes to the reassessment process - Support Needs Assessment (I-CAN) is not due to roll-out until April 2027. No changes right now. We are looking at tools to help prepare for this.
Thriving Kids (children 8 years old and under) will start rolling out in October 2026, but there is no further information about how this looks yet. For now, we keep reports up to date to ensure we are prepared for reassessment. No changes for now.
Ensure all new reports state why community access support from the NDIS for you is essential and not just a 'nice to have',
If we need to request a plan change, we will work together to make sure it meets the new requirements,
If your plan is auto-extended or continued (often called a 'roll over') that any unused funding may not roll-over like it used to. It is expected this change will happen quickly (7-day turnaround), but no firm dates have been provided.
If you are plan-managed - we will keep an eye on the NDIS-approved plan manager panel and ensure your plan manager is listed once it is released (estimated October, 2027) If they are not on the panel, we will ensure you are linked with an approved provider to ensure continuity of care.
If you receive a new NDIS plan, it will be important to tell all of your providers, as they will only have 90 days to submit any invoices from your old plan.
We will be working in the background to ensure we are considered part of the NDIS-approved support coordinator provider panel in the future. There are no details about how we do this. We love what we do and plan to do what is necessary to continue being support coordinators or navigators!
Again, please always reach out to us if you have any concerns or are hearing anything in the media / social media that you wanted to talk about, as there are a lot of rumours, some of which may not be true or known yet!
