From our perspective as someone who provides mental health peer support 👥️

We see every day why the NDIS matters.

We are a small provider and that means we can offer something really important, a personal, genuine and flexible approach. We know our participants, we listen to them and we go above and beyond because we genuinely care about the people we support.

We see the difference the right support can make when someone is struggling to get through the day, feeling isolated, overwhelmed or simply trying to find their way forward.

Mental health peer support isn’t about doing everything for someone. It’s about walking alongside them, listening without judgement, sharing lived experience and helping them recognise their own strengths and choices.

The NDIS isn’t simply about funding. It can be the support that helps someone reconnect with their community, build confidence, maintain independence and have a life that feels meaningful.

Yes, the system needs accountability. It needs to protect participants and ensure funding is used appropriately. But changes made in the name of saving money must not lose sight of the people behind the numbers.

As a small provider, we worry about what happens when people lose access to the support that helps keep them connected and moving forward. We also worry about the impact on the small, dedicated providers who put so much of themselves into supporting participants and often go well beyond what is expected.

Behind every plan, every budget and every funding decision is a person.

Let's make sure their voice remains at the centre of the conversation.

Taking Responsibility for Your Mental Health đź’š

Looking after your mental health isn’t just about waiting until things get too hard and then asking for help. It’s also about learning to recognise when you’re struggling, being honest with yourself and taking small steps to support your own wellbeing.

Being accountable for your mental health doesn’t mean you have to do it alone. It means recognising that your wellbeing matters and you have a role in looking after it.

🌱 Notice the signs when you’re not coping
đź’¬ Talk to someone you trust
🧠 Challenge the thoughts that are holding you back
🚶‍♀️ Make time for the things that help you feel grounded
🤝 Reach out for support when you need it
❤️ Be kind to yourself along the way

You don’t have to have everything figured out. Sometimes accountability simply means saying, “I’m not okay right now and I’m going to do something about it.”

Your mental health is worth taking seriously. Start with one small step today. đź’š

đź’› Loneliness Awareness Week đź’›

Loneliness isn't always visible. It can affect people of all ages and backgrounds even when they're surrounded by others.

At Peer 4 Peer, we know the power of genuine connection. Sometimes having someone who truly understands through lived experience can make all the difference.

This Loneliness Awareness Week, let's remember that reaching out, listening without judgement, and simply being present can change someone's day and sometimes even their life.

If you or someone you know is feeling isolated, you don't have to face it alone. Connection starts with a conversation.

đź’™ Together, we can create communities where everyone feels seen, heard and valued.

"Need someone to walk alongside you? Contact Peer 4 Peer to learn how our lived experience peer mentors can support your journey."

Mental health isn’t Monday to Friday. It isn’t 9–5. 💛

The tough moments don’t check the time. Anxiety doesn’t wait for office hours. Loneliness doesn’t take weekends off.

At Peer 4 Peer, we know support is often needed in the moments people least expect, after a hard day, during a sleepless night, or when things feel heavy and someone simply needs connection, understanding, or reassurance.

That’s why we believe in being there. In checking in. In answering the call. In showing up with kindness, compassion, and a friendly face when it matters most.

Because sometimes support is more than a service, it’s knowing someone genuinely cares.

At Peer 4 Peer, we’re about people, connection, and walking beside you through life’s ups and downs 💙

"Sometimes the most powerful support comes from someone who truly understands.”
Our peer mentors are at the heart of what we do. Through connection, encouragement, and lived experience, they help others feel less alone and more confident moving forward.
We’re excited to introduce a few of the incredible people helping make that happen every day 🌱

Yoshi - "If it’s outside and sporty, I’m there! Wanna go skimboarding, hiking, bouldering, play pickleball, (or anything else that comes to mind), well what are you waiting for? Let’s get in there like swimwear! I also have a great sense of humour; I love a good belly laugh and some good-natured banter. I also deeply enjoy creative endeavors like crocheting, knitting, and reading all sorts of books to learn new things and immerse myself in magical worlds.
Adventures are fun but I also love hearing people’s stories, learning about different cultures and perspectives. I get a lot out of deeply getting to know someone; forming a strong connection, learning what motivates them, what their struggles are, and how I could be supportive".

Lee-Ann - "I'm here to offer a safe, supportive space where you can just be yourself. My approach is shaped by training in trauma-informed care, coaching, breathwork, somatic practices and yoga.
I'm passionate about simple everyday ways to support wellbeing and mental health, such as movement, breath and nutrition.
My focus is on creating a space where people feel safe, supported and understood".

Libby - "I'm currently studying a Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) and hold a Certificate 3 in Eduction Support along with past experience in tutoring.
I enjoy supporting others to build confidence and learn in a way that feels relaxed and encouraging for them.
I love getting creative with crafts, baking & cooking, playing board games, thrifting for unique finds and spending time at the beach".

Zoe - "Relocated from England to Australia over a year ago. I’m a big fan of surfing (even if I do spend more time swimming than actually on the board! Haha) and love anything outdoors! I enjoy a happy mix of hobbies including adrenaline sports, arts and crafts, painting and staying active through walking and exercise.
You’ll usually find me soaking up the sunshine, spending time in nature, or by the ocean whenever I can. I’m also a big coffee lover and enjoy slowing down with a good cup and good company. I like to think of myself as a happy, easygoing all-rounder who’s up for anything. I value connection, kindness and love bringing a positive vibe to each day".

Steph - "I am a qualified mental health professional of 28 yrs who combines support work with my profession in order to get a good balance of skills.
Support work allows me to walk alongside people at their own pace without the pressures of nursing performance indicators. In this role I am able to be client led and appreciate the small things that enhance mental health recovery".
