A time of hope, reflection and renewal as we reach the time of year in the southern hemisphere with the least light in the day -the shortest day of the year. Many people use the days and weeks around the Winter Solstice, to pause and reflect with hope, knowing that that the darker days of midwinter will soon pass and brighter days will return.
As the winter solstice ends in the days after midwinter, and days begin to get brighter and longer, a sense that light will overcome darkness prevails.
Our ancestors have paid respect to the power of nature through the winter solstice since early human history, and today, while the focus on the winter solstice has changed from early times when people were more dependent on the sun reappearing to allow new growth of crops for their survival, the period of pause, and dark days before light, continues to keep us connected to powerful forces of nature, and hope for change to come

Two helpful Men's Health Week articles below point to two important points in considering men's health.
Also see link below to a Men's Health Social Group

1. The ABC article highlights the need to consider situational distress, which is distress coming from situations the person is dealing with, such as distress from relationship breakdown, health problems, work stress or loss of a loved one
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-06-17/male-suicide-travelling-memorial-zero-suicide-awareness/106499132
2. The Queensland Government Sunshine Coast Health article points to the need to talk about problems as a first step towards resolving issues, and that men can be slow to talk, but will talk when given the right support and in the right environment.

As well as the usual places to start for help, including,
GPs, Family, Friends, Clubs and groups to support positive social interactions and physical health,
Hypnotherapists also are mindful of treating people holistically and will ask questions on a first consultation to tailor hypnotherapy for the person in front of us.

Groups like Grab Life By the Balls (guessing this group was surely named by a man!) offer opportunities for safe and supportive social events for men

Suffering comes in many different forms. The experience of pain is not in itself a form of suffering, but pain, either emotional or physical pain, can considerably contribute to suffering.

For a number of reasons, this post is specifically focusing on hypnosis as a means to address physical pain

Here are some reasons why hypnosis is valuable in the treatment of pain.
1. Research supports hypnosis and hypnotherapy for dealing with pain - procedural pain, recovery from surgical treatments, neuropathic pain, musculoskeletal pain, and reduction of chronic pain, all have years of research evidence supporting hypnosis and hypnotherapy in their treatment.
2. There is a high number of people who experience debilitating levels of physical pain
3. Hypnosis offers an alternative or complement to standard medical approaches to pain relief
4. When in pain it is difficult to focus on anything else. By benefitting from hypnotherapy, attention can be redirected in more satisfying ways

In essence, people can consider hypnosis for dealing with pain because
hypnosis is effective,
hypnosis is gentle,
hypnosis is enjoyable,
hypnosis is safe,
there are no adverse side effects from hypnosis,
hypnosis is natural,
hypnosis is relaxing
hypnotherapy simply, actively and specifically, uses the inner mind, in specific ways for beneficial effect
hypnosis can address pain directly and can also deal with stress that contributes to pain
A few minutes of therapy, or self-hypnosis at home, can provide significant improvements
Self-hypnosis can be used at home once simple techniques of self-hypnosis are learned,
(therefore the cost of hypnotherapy with a therapist is short term and therapy can continue at home as long as you choose to benefit from it)
And a final overall reason to use hypnosis and hypnotherapy for dealing with pain is
You can feel so much better with hypnosis

So if you are suffering from a condition or illness that is causing physical pain, or you are simply dissatisfied with how you are managing pain that you have been dealing with, consider hypnosis to help you.

Note: Relevant medical history will be requested of clients attending for hypnotherapy to deal with pain

Some things in life are beyond our control, and others are right there for us every moment, to harness and use for our good.
Beyond the weather, which of course we can't control on a day to day basis, there are many other things in life outside our individual control - world politics, property prices, changes in social connection in the 21st century due to the increased power of online structures, and so much more.
External features of life beyond an individual's control, such as increased dependence on social media, and workplace insecurity, are contributing to rising stress levels, and associated stress-related illnesses, in the world.
The article below, on body stress, reminds us that even through life's challenges, there are many things that do remain in our individual control - the most basic of which being the control of our breath.
Relaxed breathing, when combined with thought processes coming more under our control, can contribute enormously to health, and to maintaining a sense of calm even when events in the world around us seem outside of our control.
Mindfulness and meditation bring breath and thoughts into control
Hypnotherapy also can help people to reconnect with deep natural breathing, to become more relaxed and calm, to access inner resources to release stress, and consequently allow thoughts to become clearer and more calm, to strengthen, or even awaken a sense of inner strength and calm to deal with life events in a more calm and more relaxed way. Hypnotherapy can also address specific stressors and symptoms directly.
Whether stress contributes to cravings for food, reaching for a cigarette or v**e, becoming physically or mentally uptight due to work stress, whether dealing with anxiety, depression, sleep issues, or ongoing stress from long term physical or emotional conditions, hypnotherapy can help to release stress, and bring our experience of life back into our own control in a way that is healthy and satisfying. And that release of stress, and increased awareness of inner strength and calm, and control, can be achieved with hypnosis and hypnotherapy, in a safe and very comfortable way

Will power and imagination together are powerful. The opposing Law of the mind the law of reversed effort states that if imagination and will are in conflict, imagination will always win out over will power. When there is conflict, hypnosis and hypnotherapy help to bring the imagination and will together - such as helping to bring alignment in what is felt and imagined inside with a person's conscious hopes and aspirations.

Like a flower ready to unfold, your mind holds so much power to allow you to blossom and grow. You might be lucky and still be young when you begin to truly discover your own potential, or for some it might be later in life. It doesn't matter, the human mind at that inner level cares little for time. As long as we are alive and able to use our mind, change is possible. Hypnosis can help because it deals with what is inside, and hypnotherapists can help you with that process. If you are in need in matters relating to your mind,, know that help is at hand to help you make the change that you want to make for your own sake.

Some people appear great on the outside, but inside they are a mess.
Sometimes the everyday self that we show on the outside hides what we feel inside. The outside might seem fine, even amazing to someone looking on, but inside holds a world of fear or distress, or self doubt or barely coping.
But inside is not only a mess, it is also the home of your wonderful, creative and infinite subconscious mind. The part of you that knows everything about you, that wants you to experience the change you seek in your life, and the part of you that knows how to help you bring about that change.
So, if there is a change in your life that you seek, consider spending some time with your subconscious.
Last thing at night before you go to sleep, with your eyes closed, in your mind simply and gently ask
"Subconscious, please guide me to know something more about what I need to do to make this change I seek".
And you might be surprised that you will find the answer to positive change for you, may very well come to you by morning.

And remember hypnotherapy is always here too, to help bring about true and lasting change in a way that can be easier, faster, and more comfortable, and even more enjoyable than you might ever have imagined possible
